Minutes of the Greening Geneva Initiative Meeting between The Natural Resources Committee and the City of Geneva June 6, 2014 NRC members met with representatives of the City of Geneva to discuss possible tree locations, within the downtown business district, where new trees could be planted. The site visit began at the post office and covered an area bounded by Hamilton Street to the north, South Street to the south, First Street to the east, and 6th Street to the west. The following were present for the site walk: NRC – Jay Womack, Jeanine McMillen, Carrie Carter City of Geneva – Chris Bong The following locations and quantities were discussed and tentatively agreed upon: Location # of trees Just east of 303 Franklin 1* 4 S. 6th Street on State Street side 1 111 W. State Street in existing tree pit 1 6th Street along face of Ace Hardware 2 321 James Street, west of 3rd 2 311 S. 2nd Street 2 403 to 417 4th Street, at Little Traveler 4* 15 N. 2nd in front of law office 1 16 N. 2nd in front of hair salon 1 22 N. 3rd in island, replace shrub with tree 1 @ Gieshe Shoes on 4th 1* @ Riley Drugs on State Street 1 403 W. State Street in front of Scentimental Gardner 2 427 W. Next Steps  The NRC will work verify the amount of funds to be spent this year, may be similar to 2013 expenditure.  NRC will develop RFP for planting trees this fall. Will be similar to 2013 RFP and will go out to three or four companies. The foregoing constitutes our understanding of the matters discussed and conclusions reached at this meeting. If the participants have any corrections, please send written response to The Natural Resources Committee within seven (7) days for review.
