Minutes of the Meeting Natural Resources Committee A Subcommittee of the Strategic Advisory Committee Geneva City Hall January 7, 2015 1. Meeting called to order at 7:05 pm. 2. Geneva NRC Members Present: Jay Womack, Bill Doeckel, Carrie Carter, Tom Dickinson, and Jeanine McMillen. Absent: Adam McMillen, John Frankenthal and Dan Ludwig. Also absent Leslie Juby SPAC liaison. Also present Lauren Jennison (potential member). 3. Amendments to the meeting. There were no amendments to the agenda. 4. Bill Doeckel moved Jeanine McMillen seconded that the December minutes passed. The motion passed. 5. Active Projects:  Earth Day Event 2015 Proposed date is April 18, 2015. Next NRC meeting will be held at Peck Farm with other participants. Appropriate vendors are good for the earth, improves the environment, good for the community. Jeanine will ask USAgain if they would like to participate this year. They are located in St. Charles and collect textiles. Event will be advertised on the City website.  Eastside Fire Station Natural Landscaping Project Nothing to report.  2nd & Franklin Natural Landscaping Project Adjustments are being made to the landscape along Franklin by Roy Diblik.  River Clean-up Day Postponed until May.  Rain Barrels for sales All rain barrels have been sold. Six more will be ordered for WCT to use as tables.  Rain Barrels on Parade The event was a success. Next event will be 2016.  Greening Geneva Initiative – In the past two years the NRC has donated over $20,000 and planted over 60 trees. Memorial trees were discussed. It was suggested that we provide Geneva NRC Meeting Minutes January 7, 2015 Page 1  information on how to sign up. We will also promote the 50/50 program. Perhaps have a lottery where we donate 50% of the cost. Investigate with the City how we can coordinate with the Park District. Jeanine will contact Scott Ney to ask about making donations of trees to the schools.  Geneva City Hall Landscape Nothing to report.  Wine, Cheese and Trees – March 21, 2015. 1. Signed and sent rental agreement. 2. Next coordination meeting is January 8th. 3. Will need to fill out form for insurance. 4. City newsletter will include a save the date notice.  Fabyan Preserve Stewardship Next work days are 1/10, 1/17 and 1/31.  NRC Facebook Page Save the date posting. 6.
