City of Geneva Strategic Plan Advisory Committee Geneva City Hall Geneva, IL 60134 Wednesday, May 20, 2015 6:00 pm 1. Call to Order – Meeting called to order by Brault, Cassin - second at 6:03pm 2. Roll Call – Backus, Brault, Cassin, Clements, Janis, Juby, Main, Merrill, Sarangabany. Also present Stephanie Dawkins Absent – none 3. Amendments to the Agenda – none 4. Approval of Submitted Reports a. Approval of Minutes –Approved: Juby; 2nd Main Motion carried unanimously Approval of Budget –Approved: Merrill; 2nd Cassin Motion carried unanimously 5. Elections: Approved: Cassin; 2nd Clements Motion carried unanimously a. Chair: Mark Brault b. Vice Chair: Leslie Juby c. Treasurer: Jennifer Main d. Secretary: Barb Merrill 6. Sub Committee Reports a. NRC – Juby/Cassin – - Successful Earth Day event o Talked about lessons learned - Volunteers needed for work days - Tree planting at elementary and high school discussions - Discussed the area on 2nd and Campbell; why this is a natural setting to preserve and protect nature (i.e. butterflies and bees) b. ICEC – Backus – - Fundraiser on May 19, Wildwood – wine tasting, door prizes $35 per guest/60 guests - New Alderman joined the group - Looking into sister city coming from Sweden - Foreign exchange program students coming form France; theme ‘The River” c. Student Government – Sarangabany - - Last meeting on May 21st for the school year - Nominations taking place - Over the summer SPAC will invite students to join the monthly meeting 7. Strategic Plan Priority Review – a. Clements writing the letter that will be sent to the aldermen inviting them to the monthly meetings. By doing this, the aldermen can see what it takes to go through the visions and prioritize them. b. Town hall – what topic will we use? Open forum? Sub committees? Include Visions? 8. New Business – a. Discuss town hall meeting details 9. Old Business – Get together Sunday July 19th at 3:00pm 10. Calendar review – Next meeting June 9, 2015 at 6:30pm 11.
