City of Geneva Strategic Plan Advisory Committee Geneva City Hall Geneva, IL 60134 September 16, 2015 6:00 pm 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. by Juby 2. Roll Call – Clements, Juby, Main, Merrill, Sarangabany. Also present Stephanie Dawkins Absent –Backus, Brault, Cassin, Janis 3. Amendments to the Agenda – none 4. Approval of Submitted Reports a. Approval of Minutes – Main; 2nd Clements b. Approval of Budget – Merrill; 2nd Sarangabany 5. Sub Committee Reports a. NRC i. The Green Initiative is taking place. Trees will be planted at the Geneva schools on Oct 16th at 2:00. Wasco Nursery is hired to dig the holes for the project. ii. Earth Day is scheduled for April 2016. Clean up of the river bank is on the agenda for that day. iii. Wine, Trees, and Cheese – location and date to be determined iv. Rain barrels on Parade; clean-up of river bank; 2nd and Franklin beautification b. ICEC i. Croissy-sur-Seine, Geneva’s cultural partner, came to visit Geneva from September 11-15. Planned were several events following their theme “The River.” Highlights included a visit with Albright, attending Festival of the Vine, the library and a trip aboard the Paddle Wheel. ii. Update – Mark and his daughter had a lovely trip to Paris and were delighted with the stop in Croissy-sur-Seine. c. Student Government i. 1st meeting of the school year will take place on September 17th at 7PM. ii. Freshman activity fair with t-shirt highlighted to recruit freshmen into Student Government will take place. iii. Regular meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month during the school year. iv. Our very own Pranita Sarangabany was on Geneva Broadcast Network 6. Strategic Plan Priority Review – a. Although Chairman Brault was unable to attend this meeting he wanted everyone to know he is proud of the SPAC team; let’s keep up the momentum b. Next few SPAC meetings – take a look at the relationship with Aldermen; how we can make the Strategic Plan written more succinctly; looking at these ideas in more depth: i. Add new goals ii. Hire new facilitator iii. Question why we write a plan c. Contact Aldermen to ask how we did at the special meeting 7. Additional business – a. Backus has resigned effective immediately 8. Calendar review – Next meeting October 21, 2015 a. Goal: preliminary discussion on agreement and if it still stands on priorities 9. Adjournment - 1st Clements; 2nd Sarangabany- Motion carried unanimously at 7:01PM.
