Consideration with possible action on a building permit application for porch repairs at 1222 S. Monroe Avenue. (01:43) Kevin King, Neighborhood Development Specialist, appeared and stated the home currently has exterior repair orders issued by the Inspection Department. The property owner has obtained a home improvement loan through the City’s HOME Program. The dilapidated porches are the main concern of the Inspection Department and the loan will be used to repair them, as well as other exterior issues. The contract states that the porch shall be repaired to resemble its existing design. Ald. Steuer stated this property has been an eye sore for a while now and is glad the City is taking care of it. D. Boyce inquired if volunteers could assist the home owner in fixing up the property. Ald. Steuer suggested contacting the Astor Park Neighborhood Association for volunteers. A motion was made by D. Doucette and seconded by S. Ley to approve a building permit application for porch repairs at 1222 S. Monroe Avenue. Motion carried. 1 2. Consideration with possible action for siding at 701 S. Adams Street. (09:38) Ald. Steuer stated the property owner, Thomas Delsart, contacted him and stated he had already purchased the siding for the home and didn’t understand why he needed to go before this Commission. He explained to T. Delsart that anyone making exterior changes to a property located in a historic district needs design review completed. J. Flatt reported that the current siding on the house isn’t original to the home; therefore, he doesn’t have any concerns with replacing it. The historic features on this house are its overall form and the front porch. He recommends approving the siding and window replacements. A motion was made by D. Doucette and seconded by D. Boyce to approve siding at 701 S. Adams Street. Motion carried. INFORMATIONAL: Ald. Steuer announced that Roger Retzlaff has resigned from his position with this Commission.
