APPROVAL OF MINUTES MAHADEO introduced the minutes, which were included in the agenda materials. The minutes were approved as presented by unanimous consent. PUBLIC COMMENT None CHAIR REPORT Tracie Mahadeo filled in the chair role for the meeting as both chair Chris Craven and vice chair Tom MacDonald were absent. Ojasvi Sinha gave an update about the potential Park Bond community open house she attended on June 2, 2026. STAFF REPORT Amy Dukes gave updates about next steps for the potential park bond renewal. The item will be on the agenda of the June 29 City Council meeting. She also gave updates on the joint use agreement between the City and the Issaquah School District. The new agreement includes the use of the performing arts center at Issaquah High 1 Page 3 of 15 APPROVAL OF MINUTES a) 6-8-26 Arts Commission Minutes School and details a reservation process that provides more lead time for arts and culture organizations using the space. The new agreement will be discussed at the June 25 ISD school board meeting. AGENDA ITEMS A Chalk Art Festival Planning (D) Commissioners discussed logistics and planning for the July 2 Chalk Art Festival. They signed up for volunteering and artwork judging spots. Clown Garage will be providing musical and performance art entertainment again this year. There will also be professional chalk artists creating artwork throughout the festival space to engage participants. The Chalk Art Festival will be part of the City’s official July 4th festivities which include a community wagon float making workshop, a parade, a special farmers market located at memorial field and a family fun zone of activities. The community mosaic is complete and will be installed at the Senior Center entrance in July. B Public Art Updates (I) Amy Dukes provided updates on active public art projects including the mural at the community center that is being developed with Urban Artworks, to be installed with community members during the Aire Craft Festival in August and a mural at Pedestrian Park on the Jak’s building to be installed by artist Mary Iverson. She also provided updates on the summer story in the park that will be installed in Confluence Park later in the summer. The creative district and KCLS have worked together to select “The Artist” by Ed Vere as the featured book. Six new utility box locations will be wrapped with artwork later this summer. Artwork selections for each location were reviewed. C Art in the Schools Grant Program Discussion Part 3 (D) This item was deferred to a future meeting due to presenter’s schedule change. OPEN DISCUSSION The next arts commission meeting will be July 13. The August 10 meeting will be cancelled. Refine hand lettering forms and composition of the Buzz Aldrin quote. REGULAR BUSINESS c) Ensure attribution is added to the Buzz Aldrin quote.
