In compliance with Governor Pritzker’s mandate, any individual appearing in person must wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth. Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments in advance of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov. ROLL CALL Present Quinn Adamowski, Eryn Blaser, Lori Carmine, Erick Deshaun Dorris, Eric Gorder, Brett Marcum, Sue Regis, John Simpson Jr, Theresa Rouse, Peg (Marguerite) Stoiber and Megan Millen Absent Valerie Devine, Lauren Las, Crystal Malone and Deborah Summers APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Carmine, seconded by Simpson, Jr, that the October 20, 2021 meeting minutes be approved. NEW BUSINESS a. Meeting Dates for 2022 Liaison Katie Smith reviewed the 2022 meeting dates. All meetings will take place on the third Wednesday of the month at 5 pm in the Joliet City Hall Council Chambers unless advertised otherwise. The Commission decided not to meet in December 2022 due to the holidays. b. Committee Reports i. Funding Subcommittee-Eryn Blaser, Chairperson Funding Subcommittee Chairman Eryn Blaser reviewed the last meeting and outlined the proposed art festival to take place in downtown Joliet in summer 2022. She reviewed the layout of the event, timeline, events, needs and variables yet to be determined . Arts Incubation Subcommittee-Quinn Adamowski, Chairperson Incubation Chairman Quinn Adamowski reviewed the work the subcommittee has completed on the mural assessments over the last year and reviewed the plan for mural maintenance for the City Council to consider. iii. Arts Innovation Subcommittee-Lorinda Carmine, Chairperson Innovation chairman Lori Carmine reviewed the last Innovation meeting as well as the previously discussed logo contest for the commission. The commission discussed possible ways of moving forward with logo creation. TMP-2797 Attachments: Arts Commission Logo Guidelines iv. Partnerships & Community Engagement-Valerie Devine & Dr. Theresa Rouse, Co-Chairpersons No report from the Partnerships & Engagement Committee. c. Discussion: Which committee projects should prioritize for 2022? The Commission discussed how to expend the funds on the earlier proposed projects or events. Via a straw poll the Commission agreed to set aside a small amount as an award for the creation of a logo and the rest, as needed, would fund the Art Walk . The Art Walk was then determined to become a recurring event over the summer versus the single-day event as originally suggested. NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION The commission discussed a timeline for reviewing and presenting items to the Council for consideration. PUBLIC COMMENT None. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Carmine, seconded by Regis, to adjourn the November 17, 2021 meeting. The motion carried unanimously. This meeting will be held in an accessible location.
