ROLL CALL Present Quinn Adamowski, Eric Gorder, Megan Millen, Sue Regis, John Simpson Jr, Peg (Marguerite) Stoiber, Deborah Summers, David Wheeler and Giovanni Alvarado Absent Eryn Blaser, Lori Carmine, Erick Deshaun Dorris, Lauren Las, Crystal Malone, Brett Marcum and Lonnie Posley 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Simpson, Jr, seconded by Millen, that the March 16, 2022 meeting minutes be approved. The motion carried unanimously. This section is for anyone wanting to speak regarding agenda items and are allowed a maximum of 4 minutes. It is not a question and answer period and staff, and the Commission members do not generally respond to public comments. The City Clerk has a copy of the public speaking procedures; please note, speakers who engage in conduct injurious to the harmony of the meeting shall be called to order by the Presiding Officer and may forfeit the opportunity to speak. 4. NEW BUSINESS A. Welcome New Commissioners Chairman Adamowski welcomes the two new Arts Commission members, David Wheeler and Giovanni Alvarado, to the meeting. Each introduced themselves briefly. B. FOR DISCUSSION: Summer of Steel and Stone Raffle (co-sponsorship with Art Movement and Joliet Township) The Commission reviewed the 2021 Stone & Steel project. For 2022 the Art Movement took over ownership of said project and approached the Commission in order to support the project for 2022. The Commission discussed the pros and cons of support, the project and its outcomes. TMP-3815 Attachments: SummerofStoneandSteel2022 C. FOR ACTION: Approve use of 2021 raffle proceeds for 2022 Summer of Steel and Stone raffle A motion was made by Stoiber, seconded by Simpson, Jr, that the Commission approve the donation of $1,474.00 to the 2022 Summer of Stone and Steel project. NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION A. Committee Reports i. Funding Committee No report. ii. Arts Incubation Committee The Incubation subcommittee met at 4pm on May 18 and discussed the steps towards a public art policy. The subcommittee also discussed the approach for assessing the sculptures and columns as they currently exist. iii. Arts Innovation Committee Subcommittee member John Simpson reports the adjusted timeline for the logo contest . iv. Partnerships and Community Engagement Committee No report. PUBLIC COMMENT None.
