Region 7 includes Will and Kankakee counties. The new Region 7 mitigation plan limits in-person meetings to 25 people or 25% of overall room capacity (whichever is less). Council Chambers allows for 13 members of the public while adhering to social distancing guidelines. During meetings, any member of the public physically present in the Council Chambers in excess of the limit will be asked to wait in another room with live feed to the meeting until the Citizens To Be Heard on Agenda Items section or Public Comments section of the meeting has commenced. Speakers will be rotated into Council Chambers to allow everyone an opportunity to speak. Pursuant to the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity’s Guidelines, it is recommended that any individual appearing in-person wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth. Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments in advance of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov. FOCUS AREAS OF REVIEW The Funding Subcommittee reviewed over the Arts Commission’s three focus areas for subcommittees to think about and consider when meeting and discussing feature ideas and plans to bring forward to the Arts Commission. We looked at deadlines, support, and materials, and information that is needed for each of this possible grant opportunities. Page 2 of 5 Arts Commission - Funding Subcommittee Meeting Minutes - Pending Approval September 9, 2020 Campaign, scholarship, and/or fund in honor of related work Subcommittee discussed possibility of having a Champaign to bring back some people who grew up in Joliet and are now maybe still presently living here or away and are doing great work within the Arts. Discussions of an idea of a walk of fame. This would be an idea of Joliet Artists histories. The subcommittee discussed the importance of partnerships to create opportunities and connections within the community. There was discussion about an awards ceremony/event to honor these people. The subcommittee discussed some possibilities where funds from this ceremony could support a scholarship or find in honor of related work . Subcommittee discussed possibility of having a Champaign to bring back some people who grew up in Joliet and are now maybe still presently living here or away and are doing great work within the Arts.
