City of Joliet 150 West Jefferson Street Joliet, IL 60432 Meeting Minutes - Final Wednesday, March 10, 2021 6:00 PM City Hall-Conference Room 1 Arts Commission - Funding Subcommittee Committee Members Eryn Blaser Erick Deshaun Dorris Roxianna Fuqua Crystal Malone Arts Commission - Funding Subcommittee Meeting Minutes - Final March 10, 2021 Page 1 of 1 Arts Commission - Funding Subcommittee Meeting Minutes - Final March 10, 2021 Pursuant to Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan, the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity's Guidelines recommend best practices that limit an in-person meeting to 50 people or less (Council Chambers allows for 18 members of the public) while adhering to social distancing guidelines. During meetings, any member of the public physically present in the Council Chambers in excess of the limit will be asked to wait in another room with live feed to the meeting until the Citizens To Be Heard on Agenda Items section or Public Comments section of the meeting has commenced. Speakers will be rotated into Council Chambers to allow everyone an opportunity to speak. Pursuant to the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity’s Guidelines, it is recommended that any individual appearing in-person wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth. Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments in advance of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov. ROLL CALL Present Chairperson Eryn Blaser, Erick Deshaun Dorris and Crystal Malone Absent Roxianna Fuqua APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Dorris, seconded by Malone, that the February 10, 2021 meeting minutes be approved as presented.. This section is for anyone wanting to speak regarding items listed on the agenda, except for items listed under Public Hearing. Anyone speaking on an agenda item is entitled to speak for a maximum of 4 minutes. It is not a question and answer period and staff and the Commission members do not generally respond to public comments. Please note speakers who engage in conduct injurious to the harmony of the committee shall be called to order by the Presiding Officer and may forfeit the opportunity to speak. REVIEWING PRESENTATION TO THE ARTS COMMISSION Grants Subcommittee discussed and reviewed over grant opportunities that were brought forth to the Arts Commission and from the last subcommittee meeting. The subcommittee discussed the deadline and elements that were needed to finalize the grant before the deadline. The subcommittee discussed another grant with deadlines approaching in the near future. Partnership The subcommittee discussed the partnership with a local institution and possible projects in the near future. The subcommittee discussed possible partnerships with local organizations, institutions, and places within the city. FUTURE FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES TO FOCUS ON IN 2021 Page 1 of 2 Arts Commission - Funding Subcommittee Meeting Minutes - Final March 10, 2021 Grant Opportunity and Next Steps Before Deadline The subcommittee discussed the deadline and elements that were needed to finalize the grant before the deadline. Partnerships/Connections The subcommittee discussed the partnership with a local institution and possible projects in the near future. Other Ideas for Fundraising The subcommittee discussed a possible project that could create partnerships with local businesses, local organizations, and the Arts Commission. The subcommittee discussed ideas and on how these partnerships and collaborations could work. REVIEW TIMELINE FOR FUTURE ITEMS Planning for Future Subcommittees Wednesday April 14th, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. Recommendations for Non-Voting Members in the Future The subcommittee discussed recommendations for Non-Voting Funding Subcommittee members to bring forward to the Arts Commissions for possible appointment. The subcommittee discussed the protocols for Non-Voting subcommittee members OLD BUSINESS The subcommittee discussed the connection back to looking into opportunities with health and arts.
