The City Manager gave a brief explanation of this Council Memo and also
responded to Councilman Hug's question from yesterday's Pre-Council meeting
concerning individuals who are 36 years of age and currently employed as a
full-time police officer are able to test and laterally transfer to the Joliet Police
Department.

CITY MANAGER:
The City Manager briefly discussed the time for the Land Use & Legislative meeting for
November 8, 2021, body cameras for the Police Department and the finalization of the last
firefighter union contract.

Councilwoman Quillman briefly discussed placing an age limit on trick or treating.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
None.
MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENTS:
Councilwoman Gavin sent prayers to the families of the recent shooting victims. She also
discussed, as a member of the community, CDBG funding for lighting and painting at Forest
Park Community Center.
Councilman Guerrero briefly discussed a watermain break at Abe Street near Jackson Street.
He highlighted Dia De Los Muertos November 1st. He discussed the tragic loss of Holly
Matthews and Jonathan Ceballos and expressed his condolences to the families and shared
counseling resources available throughout the city.
Councilman Hug congratulated Plainfield Central High School's football team on making the
play-offs.
Councilwoman Quillman briefly discussed Moderna booster shots at Jewel.
Councilwoman Reardon read a letter from Margie Cepon concerning the release of Joliet
Police Chief Dawn Malec.
Mayor O'Dekirk highlighted the Exchange Club of Joliet spaghetti dinner fundraiser. He
echoed the comments made concerning the shooting victims and thanked the efforts of the
Fire and Police Departments for their assistance with this incident since it was outside the city
limits of Joliet. He wished all a happy Veteran's on November 11th. Mayor congratulated all
the members the Scorpions pool team on their World Pool Championship. He wished his
mother-in-law Ruth Evans and his daughter happy birthday.

Clement, to enter into closed session to discuss personnel, collective bargaining, land
acquisition or conveyance, pending or threatened litigation after which the meeting will be
adjourned.
