NEW BUSINESS (Not for Final Action or Recommendation): Councilman Hug thanked the City Manager for assisting with the elimination of City owned properties. In response to Councilman Hug's question, Corporation Counsel Sabrina Spano explained the Council can repeal the Ordinance which pertains to the Class BG liquor licensing. Councilwoman Quillman discussed the City's current emergency notification system and the City's after hours contact number to report water main breaks. In response to Councilwoman Reardon's question, the City Manager discussed the use of land given by CenterPoint for a regional training facility. A brief discussion was held regarding the training facility. Page 12 of 14 City Council Meeting Meeting Minutes - Final September 20, 2022 Mayor O'Dekirk advised maps for City water main projects are available on the City website. He discussed an email received from the Committees on Citizens with Disabilities concerning ADA transition compliance. Public Works Director Greg Ruddy briefly discussed a current contract underway to complete an ADA transition plan. PUBLIC COMMENTS: Jim Lanham thanked Chief Evans and other staff for assisting him with the downtown BNSF railroad property and asked Council to strengthening local ordinances and penalties in response to the upcoming Safety Act. Maria Rosas spoke regarding Non-Violent City Project in Joliet. MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENTS: Councilman Guerrero concurred with Councilwoman Quillman concerning the need for a phone number that will be answered 24 hours a day to report water main breaks. He highlighted the downtown Latino Music and Food Festival, the parade, and the Pride event at Bicentennial Park, and ADA compliance. Councilman Hug thanked Jim Glasgow for his Podcast on WJOL concerning the Illinois Safety Act HB3653. Councilman Morris thanked the Church of God of Joliet for their water drive that was taken to the residents of Jackson, Mississippi. Councilman Mudron highlighted the September 11th Remembrance Ceremony at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Midwest Orthopedic Facility at Rush open house. Councilwoman Quillman concurred with Councilman Hug concerning the Safety Act and State's Attorney Glasgow's Podcast. She also highlighted the September 11th Ceremony. She briefly discussed calls received by citizens from the City's water department and Mayor O'Dekirk verified the calls are legitimate. Mayor O'Dekirk highlighted the Pride Fest, Latino Food and Music Fest, and the Parade . He also highlighted infrastructure improvements by IDOT on I-80 and I-55. Mayor briefly discussed the Safety Act and a Resolution coming before the Council at the October 4, 2022 Council meeting.
