Trista Graves Brown thanked Chief Evans, and Deputy Chief Matlock for the recent arrest in the murder of a young man in the vicinity of the proposed liquor store and spoke in opposition of same said liquor store. Rev. Larry Ellis of St. Mark's Church spoke in opposition of the proposed liquor store. Luther Johnson, owner of History on Wheels, informed the Council he was available for any questions on Council Memo #585-23: Resolution Authorizing the Execution of a Lease with History on Wheels for the Lots at 575 E. Jackson Street. Janet Diaz spoke in opposition of the proposed liquor store. Jaron Nabors spoke in opposition of the proposed liquor store. APPOINTMENTS: COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS: Economic Development Councilman Hug gave an overview and explanation of the items discussed at the Monday, October 30, 2023 Economic Development Committee Meeting. A brief discussion was held regarding access to condominiums and businesses along Chicago Street during all the construction and signage control for pedestrians and traffic . Councilman Clement and Greg Ruddy, Director of Public Works, briefly discussed the City's readiness for snow removal. Councilman Guerrero highlighted the Sator Sanchez event on Veteran's Day, 15 year anniversary of Atotonilco restaurant and expressed his support of St. Joseph Hospital nurses. Councilman Hug spoke regarding the passing of an individual in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Tony's Fresh Market on Jefferson Street. Councilwoman Ibarra highlighted the Principal of the Day event at District 86 principle for the day, St. Pat's neighborhood meeting, support of St. Joseph Hospital nurses, and wished two of her friends a happy birthday. Councilman Mudron highlighted a Proclamation issued by Mayor D'Arcy he presented for the 25 year anniversary for Lively Hope Church of God in Christ and the Hyundai dealership ribbon cutting. Councilwoman Quillman thanked Police Chief Evans for stepping in to attempt to deescalate a situation, expressed her support of the St. Joseph Hospital nurses, and wished all veterans a happy Veteran's Day. Councilwoman Reardon spoke regarding ThriveWorks, a free mental health service. Mayor D'Arcy thanked all service men and women currently serving and veterans for their service.
