PUBLIC COMMENTS: Skip Hoechbauer, with the VFW 2199, spoke regarding a hardship at the post due to a power failure. Mary Beth Gannon spoke regarding transparency and the inspector general report regarding Page 9 of 11 City Council Meeting Meeting Minutes - Final February 6, 2024 the Joliet Area Historical Museum. Luther Johnson gave a brief update on the Cassaday House. Kathy Garthus spoke regarding the loss of her mother's property. Jerry Hervey encouraged the Council to continue their good work. Amy Sanchez spoke regarding the Old Joliet Prison and need of a rebranding for the City of Joliet. Christine Johnson spoke regarding the museum and the prison. MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENTS: Councilman Cardenas thanked the Mayor for putting out a Press Release to support the Nance and Ester families. He expressed his support for the Ascension St. Joseph nurses. Councilman Clement discussed improvements needed through the City. Councilman Guerrero asked for continued support of nurses, acknowledged the Nance family, violence prevention, and expressed condolence to Nance family. Councilman Hug expressed his condolences to Ester and Nance families and thanked first responders for their handling of this tragedy. He highlighted positive situations involving Joliet police officers. Councilman Hug briefly commented on previous discussions concerning heirloom items taken from the Joliet Area Historical Museum. Councilwoman Ibarra wished everyone happy Black History Month. She thanked Skip for bringing awareness to the loss at the VFW and the Mayor for all his help with the Ester and Nance families. She highlighted Ascension St. Joe's nurses Thursday Town Hall Meeting and wished her father a happy birthday. Councilwoman Ibarra discussed her concerns for District 5 and thanked those who expressed their passion for the history of Joliet. Councilman Mudron encouraged everyone to come to the Town Hall Meeting at the Ottawa Street Library to support the nurses and expressed concerns for losing the hospital . He highlighted the Exchange Club Officer of the Year Event. Councilwoman Quillman also highlighted the Officer of the Year Event and wished her niece a happy birthday. Councilwoman Reardon concurred with all comments made by the Council. Mayor D'Arcy discussed the tragedy of the Ester and Nance families. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Councilman Larry E.
