Hug CITY MANAGER: The City Manager congratulated the newly sworn in police officers. She highlighted the Will County Center for Economic Development Annual Breakfast, Santa Send Off, and Holiday Hours for City Hall. She wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe Holiday Season. PUBLIC COMMENTS: Robert Webb spoke regarding City of Joliet ordinance citation violation administrative hearings. Carlos Emanuel spoke regarding citations he received violating City Ordinances. Kathy Garthus shared her distress in the passage of diesel gas tax increase and wished everyone Merry Christmas. Jim Rolf spoke regarding decisions made by Council and the creation of a Comprehensive Plan Committee. He wished everyone Happy Holidays. Karl Ferrell spoke regarding excessive force, necessary mending between the community and police, and creation of a citizen's review board. A resident spoke regarding a Joliet Patch Police Department related article. Marzell Richardson thanked all those involved in Council Memo #610-24: Resolution to Establish a Business Continuity Grant Program for Chicago Street Businesses. Nicole Lurry spoke regarding the death of her husband Eric Lurry. MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENTS: Page 11 of 12 City Council Meeting Meeting Minutes - Final December 17, 2024 Councilman Cardenas encouraged everyone to support downtown businesses and wished everyone Happy Holidays. Councilman Clement wished everyone a Merry Christmas. Councilman Guerrero encouraged everyone to support downtown businesses. He thanked Mrs. Lurry for coming down and concurred now is a good opportunity to bring up past discussions and come to some conclusion to prevent it from happening again. He encouraged everyone to spend time with their families. Councilwoman Ibarra highlighted a ribbon cutting for Healthcare Plus. She congratulated Denise Bara-Unland who won media person of the year from "I've Been Mended" and new Joliet Business of the Year winner Michele Arana of Internode Greenery & Home. Councilwoman Ibarra thanked the Joliet Police Department and Officer Monica Rodriguez who shopped in tandem in her to make two tiny sister's dreams come true and wished everyone a safe and Happy Holiday Season. Councilman Mudron highlighted the Slammers' Glow Event, Library NASA exhibition Discover Expoplanets, and wished everyone Happy Holidays. Councilwoman Quillman informed the public of a current scam with the Water Department taking place and thanked WJOL for helping to inform the community. She highlighted the Zonta March against violence, swearing in of new police officers, Cathedral Area Preservation Association meeting, Collins Street meeting, Chamber's Business After Hours event, African American Business Association Christmas dinner and meeting, and the Santa Send Off . She requested a moment of silence for the shooting in Madison, Wisconsin. She wished everyone Happy Holidays. Councilwoman Reardon congratulated Jim Ghedotte on his retirement and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Mayor D'Arcy highlighted his participation in the radio play It's a Wonderful Life. He encouraged everyone to spend time with family and friends and to help those that are less fortunate. He also wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra, seconded by Councilman Cesar Cardenas, to adjourn.
