INVOCATION: Father Chris Groh, Chaplain for the Joliet Fire and Police Departments PLEDGE TO THE FLAG: ROLL CALL: Present: Mayor Terry D'Arcy, Councilman Cesar Cardenas, Councilman Joe Clement, Councilman Larry E. Hug, Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra, Councilman Juan Moreno, Councilman Pat Mudron, Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman and Councilwoman Sherri Reardon ALSO PRESENT: City Manager Beth Beatty and Interim Assistant Corporation Counsel Stephanie Silkey Chief Evans spoke about his upcoming retirement and his time as the Chief of Police for the City of Joliet. Joliet Junior College President Dr. Kline Namuo and Joliet Junior College Police Chief Brandon Campbell congratulated Chief Evans and thanked him for his leadership, support of Joliet Junior College, and his impact on the community. The City Manager recognized Chief Evans’ dedication, professionalism, and service to the City of Joliet and its residents. Mayor D’Arcy recognized Chief Evans as a steady presence in the community, noted the strong support and appreciation from the community, and thanked him for his service while wishing him well in the future. Councilwoman Reardon thanked Chief Evans for his service, noted the respect he earned from the men and women he led, and wished him well in retirement. Councilwoman Quillman noted Chief Evans' responsiveness and service to the community, referenced reduced crime statistics under his leadership, and wished him well in retirement. Councilman Mudron thanked Chief Evans for his service and wished him well in retirement. Councilman Moreno thanked Chief Evans for his leadership and service to residents. Councilwoman Ibarra thanked Chief Evans for his dedicated service and contributions to the City of Joliet. Councilman Hug commended Chief Evans for his professionalism, noted the respect of his officers, and offered congratulations on his retirement. Councilman Moreno expressed condolences to Councilwoman Ibarra on the loss of her pet and wished Councilman Hug a happy birthday. Councilman Mudron invited Father Chris Groh to speak about the Will County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony scheduled for May 21. Councilwoman Quillman encouraged residents to remember veterans, police officers, fire fighters, and all public servants who lost their lives in service.
