PRINTER UPGRADE PROJECT
Chris Sternal, IT Manager, stated that we are unable to replace the parts for our existing
printers due to supply chain issues causing long delays in receiving the replacement parts
needed. As a result, the Information Technology Department is looking at purchasing 35 new
printers, leaving not printers in the fleet older than 4 years old. The city will be keeping 30
printers and purchasing 35 new ones totaling 65 printers. At this time, the city has 107
printers. Upgrading them would allow us to use secure print functionality. When you send a
print job, the device holds it until you physically arrive to the printer then enter a secure code
or swipe a badge that will enable the print job to come out. If a printer goes down, an
employee's print job will enter into a print queue and the employee will be able to go to any
printer and get their print job. The estimate project cost is $280,000. Due to the high cost, it
will require a Request For Proposal. Sherri Reardon and Caesar Guerrero agree it is a
necessary change that needs to be done.

Physical Security in City Hall:
David Braner, IT Director/CIO, discussed updating the physical security system in City Hall.
We will be converting the old legacy system to Genetec. The cost is $130,000 and is a

model for physical access going forward.
Cyber Security Insurance:
David Braner, IT Director/CIO also stated that the city's cyber insurance premiums will be
increasing to an estimated $50,000 per year. Mr. Braner stated that next year, we will be
examining insurance options.
GMIS Accreditation:
Chris Sternal, IT Manager, stated that we are evaluating our whole Information Technology
Department infrastructure from a policy standpoint and developing documentation . Mr. Sternal
is also reviewing our security models. The department walked through a table top exercise
and plans to do any one later in 2022. David Braner stated that we are working towards
attaining a GMIS Accreditation to meet the 200 security policy controls that are outlined in the
accreditation. Mr. Sternal stated that we are 40% through this journey and aims to have the
accreditation attained by the end of 2022. We will be the first city in IL that would meeting this
accreditation. This requires yearly renewals. Sherri Reardon asked how we maintain these
controls since technology changes so rapidly. Chris Sternal stated that an annual review is
required to maintain the GMIS Accreditation.
