Ms. Bernhard read the staff report into the record. There was discussion about
how the home was being placed in the catalog home local thematic district
because this nominations to this district, at least in the past, have made on the
basis of history, not on architectural style. After much discussion regarding the
integrity of the home due to recently installed vinyl windows and a vinyl sliding
door, the Commissioners decided to move forward with the proposed
landmarking process provided that the property owner be consulted on whether
he would agree to reinstating wood windows should the home need new
windows in the future. The Commission will further evaluate whether or not to
designate the home as a property in the Local Thematic Catalog district based
on the owner’s feedback and other new information at a future public hearing.
b. Preliminary Review of Oakwood Cemetery as a Local TMP-1911
Historic Landmark (L-1-2021)

The Commissioners discussed the cemetery components that would be

protected with the Oakwood Cemetery if it were designated as a local historic
landmark. Ms. Johnson suggested checking with neighboring towns to review
their procedure with this type of land marking. The Commission decided that
these components should be explored further by the Commission at a future
meeting before moving forward with designation at a future public hearing. Ms.
Bernhard said this subject will be reviewed again at the August regular meeting.
