Ms. Merwin noted that the April 27, 2022 Historic Preservation Commission
regular meeting minutes mistakenly listed Candace Johnson as motioning and
seconding the approval of the minutes.
A motion was made by Candace Johnson, seconded by Sara Stovall, to approve
the December 21, 2022 Joliet Historic Preservation Commission Regular
Meeting Minutes. The motion carried by the following vote:
Aye: Adamowski, Johnson, Lowry, Merwin, Stovall, Wright and
Spiegel

OLD BUSINESS
NEW BUSINESS
a(1) Election of Chair position
Mr. Adamowski announced that nominations are open for the Chairperson. Ms. Merwin
nominated Ms. Johnson for the Chairperson. No one else was suggested for Chairperson.
A motion was made by Sharon Merwin, seconded by Sara Stovall, to select Candace
Johnson as the JHPC Chairperson. The motion carried by the following vote:
Aye: Adamowski, Lowry, Merwin, Stovall, Wright and Spiegel
Abstain: Johnson
a(2) Election of Vice Chair position
Mr. Adamowski announced that nominations are open for the Vice Chairperson. Ms. Johnson
nominated Ms. Lowry for Vice Chairperson. No one else was suggested.
A motion was made by Candace Johnson, seconded by Sara Stovall, to select Kailee Lowry
as the JHPC Vice Chairperson. The motion carried by the following vote:
Aye: Adamowski, Johnson, Merwin, Stovall, Wright and Spiegel
Abstain: Lowry
b. 2023 Annual Historic Preservation Plan Framework TMP-5161

2022 Goals_End-of-Year Comments
2023 Action Plan-DRAFT
Ms. Bernhard went over the goals and achievements from the proposed 2022
objectives and goals. The 2022 goals & objectives were: Educate the public
about historic resources, Regulation of designated historic properties and
promoting historic resources. The Commissioners individually read over paper
copies. Then Ms. Bernhard went over the 2023 goals and objectives. She
started with the priority action items: Educating the public about historic

resources, stewardship of designated historic properties and promoting historic
resources.
A motion was made by Candace Johnson, seconded by Ken Spiegel, to approve
the 2023 Annual Historic Preservation Plan Framework. The motion carried by
the following vote:
Aye: Adamowski, Johnson, Lowry, Merwin, Stovall, Wright and
Spiegel
STAFF REPORTS
Ms. Bernhard gave updates on the Railroad Museum opening. Ms. Johnson asked for an
updated list of endangered historic places and the current status.
