ROLL CALL Present Councilman Joe Clement, Councilman Cesar Guerrero and Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman ALSO PRESENT: Kevin Sing - Director of Finance, Rosemaria DiBenedetto - Media Engagement & Communications Director, Todd Lenzie - Interim Corporation Counsel and Bob Okon, Reporter - The Herald News APPROVAL OF MINUTES Attachments: Legislative Committee Meeting Minutes 8-29-24.pdf A motion was made by Councilman Cesar Guerrero, seconded by Councilman Joe Clement, to approve the Legislative Committee meeting minutes for August 29, 2024. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Councilman Clement, Councilman Guerrero and Councilwoman Hallums Quillman Aye: Councilman Clement, Councilman Guerrero and Councilwoman Hallums Quillman CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS None. AGENDA ITEMS Ordinance Establishing the Compensation of the Mayor and City Council and Amending Section 2-327 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Joliet, Illinois Councilwoman Jan Quillman expressed that the ordinance does not pertain to any current city council member and that no council member voting on the proposed ordinance, will financially benefit from it unless he/she is re-elected. Kevin Sing - Director of Finance, gave an overview of the agenda item regarding the Ordinance Establishing the Compensation of the Mayor and City Council and Amending Section 2-327 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Joliet. Mr. Sing gave a brief explanation on the current salaries for both at-large and district council members, and the proposal of the ordinance for increases in salaries beginning in 2028. Councilwoman Jan Quillman once again expressed, that the ordinance does not pertain to any current city council member and that no council member voting on the proposed ordinance, will financially benefit from it unless he/she is re-elected. A brief discussion was held. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Councilman Clement, Councilman Guerrero and Councilwoman Hallums Quillman NEW OR OLD BUSINESS - NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION None. PUBLIC COMMENT None.
