Hug Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes - Final October 6, 2020 Page 1 of 1 Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes - Final October 6, 2020 Pursuant to Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan, the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity's Guidelines recommend best practices that limit an in-person meeting to 50 people or less (Council Chambers allows for 18 members of the public)while adhering to social distancing guidelines.During meetings, any member of the public physically present in the Council Chambers in excess of the limit will be asked to wait in another room with live feed to the meeting until the Citizens To Be Heard on Agenda Items section or Public Comments section of the meeting. Pursuant to the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity’s Guidelines, it is recommended that any individual appearing in-person wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth. Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can register “To Be Called” to speak up to 24 hours in advance on theJoliet.gov “Public Comments” web page. Hug, seconded by Don "Duck" Dickinson, to approve the Minutes from the September 1, 2020 meeting. Please note speakers who engage in conduct injurious to the harmony of the Public Safety Committee shall be called to order by the Presiding Officer and may forfeit the opportunity to speak REQUEST FOR APPROVAL TO USE THE CARES ACT FUNDING THROUGH WILL COUNTY FOR THE PURCHASE OF NINE (9) ZOLL CARDIAC MONITOR/DEFIBRILLATORS THROUGH ZOLL MEDICAL CORPORATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $276,654.06 Approval to Use CARES Act Funding through Will County for the 529-20 Purchase of Nine (9) Zoll Cardiac Monitor/Defibrillators through Zoll Medical Corporation in the amount of $276,654.06 Attachments: Copy Zoll Invoice Copy Eligibilty Letter Approver Report Fire Chief Blaskey discussed purchase of nine (9) Cardiac Monitor/Defibrillators, in the amount of $276,654.06, from ZOLL Medical Corporation. The monitor/defibrillator purchase will be covered by the CARES Act. A motion was made by Larry E. Hug, seconded by Don "Duck" Dickinson, to recommend to the full Council approval to use the CARES Act Funding through Will County for the Purchase of Nine (9) Zoll Cardiac Monitor/Defibrillators through Zoll Medical Corporation in the amount of $276,654.06. The next Public Safety committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. Axon will be giving a presentation on tasers. The City will apply for a grant in March from the Federal Department of Justice for the purchase of body cameras. David Braner briefly discussed software implementation. He clarified that Axon's presentation will be at the Pre-Council meeting on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. PUBLIC COMMENTS Jonathan requested to meet again with the Public Safety Committee and Land Use & Legislative Committee on the subject of Police Reform. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Don "Duck" Dickinson, seconded by Larry E. Hug, to adjourn. The motion was carried by the following vote.
