In compliance with Governor Pritzker’s mandate, any individual appearing in person must wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth. Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments in advance of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov. ROLL CALL Present Jan Hallums Quillman, Larry E. Hug and Joseph Clement ALSO PRESENT: Interim Chief of Police Robert Brown, Deputy Chief Carlos Matlock, Detective Jeff German, Special Projects Coordinator Maria Hernandez-Green, Fire Chief Greg Blaskey, and Economic Development Director Derek Conley APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Councilman Clement, seconded by Councilman Hug, to approve the minutes of the November 2, 2021 Public Safety Committee Meeting. PURCHASES Sole Source Purchase of ZETX Scan Suite with TSMA6 Drive 66-22 Test Scanner and Associated Hardware for the Joliet Police Department Investigations Division Attachments: Approver Report Purchase Chassis for the two (2) Proposed Ambulances from 41-22 Tirapelli Ford in the amount of $88,864.00 Attachments: Approver Report Purchase of Two (2) Transit Vans for Prisoner Transport from 42-22 Tirapelli Ford in an Amount not to exceed $66,646.00 Attachments: Approver Report Award of Contract to Upfit the Drug Van Approved on May 18, 39-22 Page 1 of 3 Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes - Final January 4, 2022 2021 to Herr Display Vans in the Amount of $35,360.00 Attachments: Approver Report Councilman Clement briefly spoke about electric ambulances. He would like to find out how much it would cost to outfit an electric ambulance and the possibility of testing an electric ambulance in the future. Fire Chief Blaskey discussed hybrid apparatus. Fleet manager Jeff Price discussed the purchase of ambulances. A motion was made by Councilman Clement, seconded by Councilman Hug, to recommend for approval to the full Council Purchases Item No's ID-66-22, ID-41-22, ID-42-22 and ID-39-22. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Hallums Quillman, Hug and Clement ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS Resolution to Accept and Implement a Bureau of Justice 62-22 Assistance FY 2021 Connect and Protect Grant Attachments: Resolution-FY 2021 Connect and Protect Grant Resolution Approver Report Ms. Hernandez-Green discussed Resolution to Accept and Implement a Bureau of Justice Assistance FY 2021 Connect and Protect Grant. A motion was made by Councilman Hug, seconded by Councilman Clement, to recommend for approval to the full Council Request to Approve Resolution to Accept and Implement a Bureau of Justice Assistance DY 2021 Connect and Protect Grant. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Hallums Quillman, Hug and Clement NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION None.
