CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS
Sue Wietlispach inquired about who trims trees with low hanging branches and trunk shoots
that impede a sidewalk for walking or biking. Rita suggested utilizing the CitizenVue app to
report such instances.
Arborist Report
Jim Tieber joined the meeting via phone to give his report. Trimming contract has not been
awarded. Arbor Tek is removing trees this fall. Rita inquired if any CEU's were received this
year. He is out until at least January.
NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR
RECOMMENDATION
a. Tree City USA application
Rita discussed this application. Needs additional information regarding tree planting to
complete this by the end of December.
b. Arbor Day 2023
Need a school for 2023 Arbor Day which is April 28th. Union School was suggested. Open to
a school that was receptive to having interactive participation. The group decided on a plan A
and plan B for eligible schools.
c. Goals for 2023
Some suggested goals for 2023 are: Meet more often than 4 times a year; updated
construction specs to utilize a ditch cutter instead of backhoe to get thru tree roots, only 4" of
top soil required so there is gravel under that, barrier mat to be placed under sidewalks; get a
Councilperson involved in this board; have staff of 4 assigned specifically to do tree pruning
