Water Conservation Committee Meeting Minutes - Final December 2, 2020
The Governor’s Office and the Illinois Department of Public Health activated a Tier 3 mitigation plan for all regions of the
State of Illinois, effective Friday, November 20, 2020. In an effort to support these mitigation measures, the City of Joliet is
limiting in person attendance in the council chambers to 10 people.
During meetings, groups of 10 people will be staged in various locations within city hall. These groups will wait in areas with
a live feed to the meeting until the Citizens to Be Heard on Agenda items section, the Public Hearing has commenced or the
Public Comments section of the meeting has commenced. Speakers will be rotated into Council Chambers to allow
everyone an opportunity to speak.
Pursuant to the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity’s Guidelines, it is recommended that any
individual appearing in-person wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth.
Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments in advance of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov

DISCUSSION: REBATE PROGRAM UPDATE
Amy Ferris, Deputy Director of Engineering, stated there are no new updates at this time .
DISCUSSION: WEBSITE UPDATES
Amy Ferris discussed no new updates at this time.
DISCUSSION: RESTAURANT INITIATIVE UPDATE
Amy Ferris discussed that budget funds were approved for the Images assist with the survey.
DISCUSSION: COMMUNITY WATER CONSERVATION EFFORTS
Amy Ferris discussed the Practical Plumbing Handbook is available for handout to those who
wish to review it. Some sample pages are available on the City Website for review.
DISCUSSION: EDUCATION EFFORTS FOR AREA SCHOOLS - UPDATE
Maria Ana Rafac discussed the need to get everyone together regarding this. She is hoping to
have elementary school, high schools and a couple of people from Joliet Junior College
involved. Also reaching out to Catholic Schools as well. Hopefully next year we will be able
to reach out to youth and make conservation changes.

DISCUSSION: ISTC WATER AUDITS - TROY WALKER PRESENTATION
Troy Walker, of ISTC, discussed Water Conservation Efforts and assessments that are
available. Committee staff discussed promoting commercial customers to have assessments
done. Some grant funds are available. He will look over the list to see who could qualify.
DISCUSSION: GRCORPS MEMBER HOSTING OPPORTUNITY UPDATE
Amy Ferris discussed the Greenest Region Corp which would be an event in late 2021. We
should know by May of 2021 if the City of Joliet is getting a person by the end of the year.
NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR
RECOMMENDATION
Amy Ferris said we don't have any new or old business however, we need to start thinking
about the 2021 Meeting Schedule: First Wednesday of the month at 3:30 - The first meeting
of 2021 will be Wednesday, February 3rd at 3:30 pm. This meeting schedule is acceptable to
everyone.
