City of Joliet 150 West Jefferson Street Joliet, IL 60432 Meeting Minutes - Pending Approval Wednesday, February 3, 2021 3:00 PM City Hall, Council Chambers Water Conservation Committee Commission Members Maria Rafac Marc Kaufman Richard Rodriguez Water Conservation Committee Meeting Minutes - Pending Approval February 3, 2021 Page 1 of 1 Water Conservation Committee Meeting Minutes - Pending Approval February 3, 2021 The Governor’s Office and the Illinois Department of Public Health has activated a Tier 1 mitigation plan for Region 7 (Will and Kankakee Counties). Tier 1 limits in-person meetings to 25 people or 25% of overall room capacity (whichever is less). Council Chambers allows for 10 members of the public while adhering to social distancing guidelines. During meetings, any member of the public physically present in the Council Chambers in excess of the limit will be asked to wait in another room with live feed to the meeting until the Citizens To Be Heard on Agenda Items section or Public Comments section of the meeting has commenced. Speakers will be rotated into Council Chambers to allow everyone an opportunity to speak. Pursuant to the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity’s Guidelines, it is recommended that any individual appearing in-person wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth. Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments in advance of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov. ROLL CALL Present Maria Rafac and Richard Rodriguez Absent Marc Kaufman ALSO PRESENT: Amy Ferris - Deputy Director of Engineering and Jeff Freeman - EEI. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Richard Rodriguez, seconded by Maria Rafac, to approve the Minutes of the December 2, 2020 Water Conservation Committee Meeting. DISCUSSION: REBATE PROGRAMS UPDATE Amy Ferris, Deputy Director - Engineering, discussed the 2020 totals of rebates processed. DISCUSSION: WEBSITE UPDATES Maria Anna Rafac discussed updates done to the Public Utilities website. DISCUSSION: RESTAURANT INITIATIVE UPDATE Page 1 of 2 Water Conservation Committee Meeting Minutes - Pending Approval February 3, 2021 Amy Ferris discussed the Restaurant initiative. Samples of signage were reviewed. There will be a subsequent survey to be sent to the 40 restaurants that were interested in participating. DISCUSSION: COMMUNITY WATER CONSERVATION EFFORTS Maria Anna Rafac discussed that this effort has been on hold due to Covid. Kayla Jacobs, Director of Programs of the Catholic Diocese of Joliet. She would like to partner with our conservation efforts. DISCUSSION: EDUCATION EFFORTS FOR AREA SCHOOLS - UPDATE Maria Anna Rafac has reached out to the District 86 Science coordinator. DISCUSSION: ISTC WATER AUDITS - TROY WALKER UPDATE Troy Walker, ISTC Water Audits, discussed an update. Some grants are available for facilities participation. DISCUSSION: GRCORPS MEMBER HOSTING OPPORTUNITY UPDATE Amy Ferris spoke about this. It has been decided to remove his from the agenda for the next few months as no update is available until May 2021. JJC has received a grant and will match as they have in the past. NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION No items at this time. PUBLIC COMMENT No comments at this time.
