See attached file for suggested trails. Do you have any suggestions and have a list of ADA trails? No matter what trail is selected it will be someones favorite trail and be opposition to no dog designation. I am pretty sure this does not need assembly approval and Parks and Recreation Director can make the call. Folks who support a no dog trail are reluctant to state so as the pro‐dog lobby is quite intimidating. I see this taking a slow track and am just looking into trail options. Would ADA Committee support an ADA?wheelchair or equivalent no dog trail? Tom Rutecki 321‐0839 1 The CBJ Dog Task Force was created in October 2003 to facilitate and address the following: 1) the need for areas where dogs can run off leash for training, tracking and retrieving 2) possibly limiting dogs in some areas because of wildlife issues 3) designating some trails as no dog areas to represent all users 4) education on rules and good trail etiquette. Only number 3- designating some trails as no dog areas to represent all users is to be addressed by PRAC to recommend a trail that is ADA/ wheel chair accessible to designate as dog free to the CBJ parks and Recreation Director from the following list of trails. Kaxdigoowu Heen Dei Trail/Brotherhood Bridge - Managed by CBJ Parks Rainforest Trail: Managed by State and CBJ ParksCurrent commercial use trail and constructed with passenger fee money. Twin Lakes - Managed by CBJ Parks and identified as the best CBJ trail where compliance to regulation can be enforced. A dog park can be established at both south and north ends of the trail as well as at the CBJ park- designated lot on Hillcrest St in nearby Mountain side Estates. West Douglas Pioneer Road. Given that the pioneer road lacks guardrails or protection for motor vehicles, city staff recommended that the road be open to hikers and bicyclists, but no travelers using a motor. This pioneer road could be designated as dog free or be a replacemet for Rainforest Trailif it is designated as dog free.
