Call to Order / Welcome Task Force Chair 2. Approval of Meeting Minutes Task Force Chair • August 17, 2022 3. Status Updates: • Listening Session Ad Hoc Committee October 3, 2022, KC Health Department, Biery Auditorium. 5 to 7 pm. 4. Sub Committee List a. Workplace Equity i. Track pay equity, support adherence to Convention to elimination of discrimination in all Forums Against Women (CEDAW), gender dominance in City workforce and lack of maternity and paid leave. b. Safety i. Explore and identify programs that create safe communities by using “welcoming” tools and building trust methods to create environments vulnerable populations feel not at risk. Can exist already or are ripe for shaping with our influence. Recommend to the Task Force. c. Protection i. Focus on sexual abuse & domestic violence, gather information and explore missing needed resources. Not existing agencies. Follow up on discussion to request that the City Council eliminate prostitution from the City Ordinances. Explores women driven models or programs for assessing risk in a non-law enforcement risk assessment tool. Oversee the Survivor Storytelling project. Updates Police Chief- Pat Jones Macklin The national search firm Public Sector Search (Gary Peterson) was selected recently. The Page 1 of 2 Human Rights Commission Agenda September 12, 2022 firm should have the job announcement out in the next couple of weeks. This will start the process of accepting resumes. That process will likely be open 30-45 days. After the resumes are sent in, the national search firm will try to narrow down the field to the most qualified and “likely” have some public forums with the top candidates. The Board will then select the Chief . It is expected that the Chief will be selected by the end of December. Only the top candidates will be announced publicly. It is unknown how many candidates have applied to become the KCPD Chief. 5. Future Task Force Meeting Dates To Be Determined 6. Adjournment Task Force Chair Page 2 of 2
