This ordinance authorizes the Director of Water Services to execute a construction contract for the Inflow and Infiltration Reduction: Middle Blue River Area 13 project and authorize design professional services amendment No. 1 for construction phase services with Infrastructure Solution, LLC. The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate aging sewer pipes to like-new conditions and to restore capacity to the wastewater collection system, by reducing the volume and frequency of separate sanitary sewer overflows. This project will contribute to a sustainable Kansas City by improving the performance, capacity and reliability of the City’s sanitary sewer systems, and improving water quality by reducing overflows within the project area. This ordinance authorizes the Director of Water Services to execute a construction contract for the Inflow and Infiltration Reduction: Line Creek Rock Creek Area 3 & 4 project and authorizing Design Professional Servicers Amendment for Contract No. 1402 and 1349 for construction phase with SHEDIGS IT, LLC. This project will improve the capacity of the wastewater collection system and lessen the volume of sewer overflows from the sanitary sewer system by repairing defects in pipes and manholes. The reduction in infiltration and inflow will help restore capacity in the wastewater collection system and reduce wet-weather flows to Blue River. Do Pass Public Works 220660 RESOLUTION - Adopting the Kansas City Vision Zero Action Plan with a goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2030; and directing the City Manager to submit a grant application for the USDOT Safe Roads and Streets for All Grant. Sponsors: Parks-Shaw, Bough, O'Neill and Bunch Jason Waldron and Bobby Evans, Public Works, presented. This ordinance authorizes the City Manager to convene a task force and create an action plan on Vision Zero. This action plan is intended to be a guide on how the roads and streets are designed and calls the city to focus on safety. Enhance the City’s connectivity, resiliency, and equity through a safe, efficient, convenient, inclusive, accessible, sustainable and better connected multi-modal transportation system. Wes Minder, KC Water, presented. This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Works to condemn private properties for public use as part of the KCI Corridor Trail Segments 1 project. The properties being condemned will be used by the City of Kansas City, Missouri for pedestrian right of way easements and for temporary construction easements. Pending the acquisition of said lands by condemnation, the Director of the Public Works is authorized to negotiate the purchase of said land pay for them out of funds appropriated or to be appropriated as aforesaid, and if any tracts be so acquired by negotiation and purchase.
