This ordinance authorizes approval for a $833,455.000 contract (amendment #5) with Black & Veatch Corporation. The project location is at the Buckeye Creek Pump Station, 5201 Birmingham Road. The facility is approximately 50 years old and needs repair. Currently, large grit and debris flows into the pump station, which will reduce its life span if not repaired. Also, the wet well at the facility is currently a permitted confined space; the wet well will be enclosed with no entry point to keep staff safe. The electrical switchgear and pump station instrumentation is old and in need of replacement as well. Approval of this ordinance will allow work to be done to replace water mains (23.16 miles) and to improve reliable distribution system, increase hydraulic capacity, and support fire protection in various areas throughout the city. There are seven design projects that were put into place this fiscal year. Ordinances presented are four out of the seven projects which have met MBE/WBE participation goals. Approval of this ordinance will allow work to be done to replace water mains (23.16 miles) and to improve reliable distribution system, increase hydraulic capacity, and support fire protection in various areas throughout the city. Approval of this ordinance will allow work to be done to replace water mains (23.16 miles) and to improve reliable distribution system, increase hydraulic capacity, and support fire protection in various areas throughout the city. There are seven design projects that were put into place this fiscal year. Ordinances presented are four out of the seven projects which have met MBE/WBE participation goals. Jeff Martin, Blake Anderson, Water Services Department, presented. This ordinance approves a contract with Black & Veatch in the amount of $975,000.00 for a new secondary pump station. The treatment plant serves both south and north of the river. Because of the growth in the northland of the city it is necessary for a new pump station. The new pump station will be located on site within the current property. Background information was given on the pump station. Councilwoman Robinson expressed concerns regarding MBE/WBE scope of work. Series 2024B Bonds provides funds to finance the acquisition of fire pumpers rear mount aerial platform trucks, rescue and tiller vehicles for the Fire Department and to pay certain costs of issuance of the Series 2024B Bonds. 3).
