Adjournment  Lansing Gateway Corridor Improvement Authority Board of Directors Monthly Meeting August 20th, 2024 @ 3pm Peckham Inc. 3510 Capital City Blvd, Lansing, MI 48906 Board Room Members Present: Robert Benstein, Dianne Hartwell, Bob Vanarkel Members Absent: Steven Bohnet, Jo Sperry Facilitator Present: Alex Watkins (Lansing EDC) Guests Present: Public: Recorded by: Alex Watkins (Lansing EDC) Call to Order/ Roll Call President Benstein calls the meeting to order at 3:10 pm Approval of Meeting Minutes - Action MOTION: Vanarkel motioned to approve the July Lansing Gateway Meeting Minutes as amended, seconded by Hartwell. YEAS: unanimous Update on Landscaping Efforts The board discussed the current ongoing landscaping project on the East End of the corridor. Reviewed which plants are going to be installed and also the cost for the plant professionals to do maintenance on the site. Watkins also mentioned the installation of the Lansing gateway street sign toppers. Watkins also briefly mentioned the cost for doing street sign toppers above the actual street light intersections. More to come from Kahleea Washington at next month's meeting. Update on the Lansing Gateway CIA Development and TIF Plan Watkins informed the board of the public comment opportunity for members of the community at the August 26 City Council meeting. Chair Benstein confirmed that he will be in attendance at the City Council meeting. Also went over the process for approving the development and finance plan which requires one more additional vote after public comment by the City Council which will take place on September 9th. Discussion on Corridor Façade Grants The board briefly discussed putting the facade grant on hold until we have public outreach to see what businesses would be interested in upper side grant or aesthetic improvements to their business. The board also discussed some of the airports improvements to traffic and safety. Also brief discussion on beautification efforts for the corridor and future projects that could assist in bringing more activation to the corridor.
