A. Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance
The Friday, September 27, 2013, regular meeting of the Lombard
Board of Fire and Police Commissioners convened at 7:06 a.m. in the
Lombard Village Hall Board Room, 255 East Wilson, Lombard, Illinois.
Chairman William Dunne led the Pledge of Allegiance.
B. Roll Call of Members

C. Approval of Minutes
It was moved by Chairman William Dunne, seconded by Secretary
Kenneth Florey, to approve the minutes from the regular meeting on
Friday, August 23, 2013. Motion carried.
It was moved by Chairman William Dunne, seconded by Secretary
Kenneth Florey, to approve the minutes from the special meeting on
Thursday, August 29, 2013. Motion carried.
It was moved by Chairman William Dunne, seconded by Secretary
Kenneth Florey, to approve the minutes from the special meeting on
Friday, September 6, 2013. Motion carried.
D. Public Participation
There was no public participation.

E. Payment of Bills
The Board received Invoice # 1114, in the amount of $320.00, from
Conrad Polygraph, covering polygraph examinations for 2 police
candidates.
The Board receive Statement #165833, in the amount of $15,238.16,
from Klein, Thorpe and Jenkins, Ltd., covering legal services rendered
and expenses through August 31, 2013.
It was moved by Chairman William Dunne, seconded by Secretary
Kenneth Florey, to approve payment of the above invoices,
statements submitted. Motion carried.

Commissioners
I. Correspondence
The Board received letter from Illinois Fire & Police Commissioners
Association inviting them to the Association's Fall Seminar on
November 1, 2 & 3.
The Board received a letter from a police candidate requesting a
reason why the Board denied him employment with the Lombard
Police Department.
The Board received a confidential letter from Klein, Thorpe & Jenkins
regarding lawsuit of one of our police officers.
The Board received 2 memos from Chief Ray Byrne regarding
assessment center scheduling for police lieutenant candidates and
police sergeant candidates.
The Board received a Letter of Appreciation from Chief Ray Byrne to
Officer Dave Thiede and Detective Benny Ranallo on their efforts in
uncovering a serious felony crime against a young child.
The Board received a Letter of Appreciation from Chief Ray Byrne to
Officer Don Ward and Officer Sherrie Georgitsis for their efforts in
apprehending a fleeing felon.
J. Unfinished Business
Fire Chief Paul DiRienzo is requesting from the Board to post the
materials to start the process for firefighter lieutenant promotional
testing.
K. New Business
Chief Ray Byrne is asking that the Board coordinate with each other
dates for the assessment center training for them to go over questions
they will be asking etc. for the police lieutenant and sergeant
candidates promotional testing process. The training should last
approximately 2 hours and Stanard & Associates will be training the
Board members. Chief Byrne has dates for the Board members.
Friday, October 4, Saturday, October 12, Saturday, October 19, and
any day the week of October 21st. Chief Byrne also mentioned that
after this training held by Stanard & Associates the Board will conduct
the actual interviews for the promotional process. There are 8
sergeant candidates and 3 lieutenant candidates.

M. Executive Session
It was moved by Chairman William Dunne, seconded by Secretary
Kenneth Florey, to recess to Executive Session at 7:15 a.m. Motion
carried.
N. Reconvene
The regular meeting of the Lombard Board of Fire and Police
Commissioners reconvened at 7:31 a.m.

It was moved by Chairman William Dunne, seconded by Kenneth
Florey to approve Fire Chief Paul DiRienzo's recommendation for
posting testing and study materials for promotion to the rank of fire
lieutenant. Motion carried.
O. Adjournment
It was moved by Chairman William Dunne, seconded by Secretary
Kenneth Florey, to adjourn the regular meeting of the Lombard Board
of Fire and Police Commissioners at 7:33 a.m.
