Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance The Wednesday, February 24, 2021 meeting of the Lombard Board of Fire and Police Commissioners convened at 8:00 a.m. in the Village of Lombard Board Room, 255 East Wilson Avenue, Lombard, Illinois 60148. B. Roll Call of Members Present: Chairman, Thomas Rachubinski Vice Chairman, Kenneth Florey Secretary, Kyle Dolan Guests: Police Chief, Roy Newton Fire Chief, Rick Sander Deputy Fire Chief, Ray Kickert Human Resources Director, Kathleen Dunne Fire Administrative Coordinator, Sheila York Police Administrative Coordinator, Barbara Blankenship C. Approval of Minutes It was moved by Vice Chairman, Kenneth Florey, seconded by Secretary, Kyle Dolan to approve the minutes of the special meeting on January 8, 2021 and the regular meeting on January 22, 2021. Motion carried. D. Public Participation E. Payment of Bills The Board received Invoice#215196 from Klein, Thorpe and Jenkens in the amount of $616.00 for attorney fees for Jason Guisinger to attend two of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Board meetings. It was moved by Vice Chairman, Kenneth Florey, seconded by Secretary, Kyle Dolan to approve payment of the bill. Motion carried. F. Vice Chairperson's Report Vice Chairman, Kenneth Florey mentioned that when we need attorney Jason Guisinger at the meetings he suggested that he Zoom into the meeting. Chief Sander will check with IT and the Village Manager's Office to make sure this is possible. H. Secretary's Report I. Correspondence The Board received a copy of a memorandum from Police Chief Newton stating that Police Officer Abigail Lauer completed her 2 year probationary period and a copy of a memorandum from Village Manager Scott Niehaus regarding the authorization to proceed with the hiring of three (3) police officers. J. Unfinished Business Fire Chief, Rick Sander mentioned that 96 firefighter/paramedics took the entry-level written test and 48 passed. It was moved by Vice Chairman, Kenneth Florey, seconded by Secretary, Kyle Dolan to extend a final offer of employment to police candidate Christine Clemons. Motion carried. It was moved by Vice Chairman, Kenneth Florey, seconded by Secretary, Kyle Dolan to extend a final offer of employment to firefighter/paramedic candidate Michael Beckley. Motion carried. K. New Business It was moved by Vice Chairman, Kenneth Florey, seconded by Secretary Kyle Dolan to promote Fire Lieutenant Mike Ringa to Fire Battalion Chief and Firefighter/paramedic Tim Gorvett to Fire Lieutenant. Motion carried. It was moved by Chairman, Kenneth Florey, seconded by Secretary, Kyle Dolan to destroy all police/fire employment applications from 1990-2015. Motion carried.
