Village of Lombard Page 1 Community Promotion & Tourism Minutes August 2, 2016 4.0 Approval of Minutes A motion to approve the minutes was made by Nancy Schukat, seconded by Jill Payne, to approve the minutes of the May 10, 2016 committee meeting. 5.0 Old Business None. 6.0 New Business 160332 Hotel/Motel 2017 Tax Budget Review and discussion of the 2017 Hotel/Motel Tax Budget. Nicole Aranas presented the proposed 2017 Hotel/Motel Tax budget. The Village has undertaken a long range budget plan to address an overall structural deficit, which was recommended by the Finance Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees. The long range budget plan was presented to the Community Promotion & Tourism Committee earlier in year. Some of the changes to the 2017 Hotel/Motel Tax budget reflect facets of the long range budget plan. Significant changes to the budget this year include changes to the printing of the Lombard Pride newsletter, reductions to the banner and winter décor program, less Police overtime for the Fourth of July Fireworks and reduction in funding for electronic communications and marketing. Nicole also shared that the Village anticipates receiving additional Hotel/Motel tax revenues as a result of litigation against certain internet hotel sites. The additional revenues will come to the Village as both a one-time compensatory payment as well as ongoing revenues not previously captured by internet hotel resellers. Following limited discussion on the information presented, the Committee did not express issues or concerns regarding the 2017 proposed budget. Nicole stated that the full budget would be reviewed by the Board of Trustees at upcoming meetings. 7.0 Other Business None. 8.0 Information Only None.
