Village of Lombard Page 1 Community Promotion & Tourism Minutes October 2, 2018 4.0 Approval of Minutes A motion to approve the minutes of the August 7, 2018, committee meeting was made by Nancy Schukat, seconded by Jill Payne. The motion was approved unanimously. Lori Solyom entered. 5.0 Old Business 180093 Special Event Sponsorship Review of Special Event Sponsorship Packages. The committee reviewed the sponsorship packages for Special Events. Staff Liaison Nicole Aranas presented the sponsorship packages for Cruise Nights. Committee member Lori Solyom stated she felt these are great and the packages should be put on the website somewhere with the policy and the application so that people can see who is eligible and who is not. Yvonne Invergo, Lombard Chamber of Commerce, questioned how many sponsors can you have for one night? Nicole responded we would have to limit the number of sponsors to a certain number for each weekly event and have a sign-up based on a first-in-time scheduling process. The committee members all approved of the packages. Staff will follow-up with communications publicly and targeted mailings to specific businesses who may be potential sponsors in October. 6.0 New Business None. 7.0 Other Business The committee agreed on meeting dates for Local Tourism Grant review in January and February. The January meeting will be moved to January 8, 2019. The Second review meeting will take place February 5, 2019. Village of Lombard Page 2 Community Promotion & Tourism Minutes October 2, 2018 8.0 Information Only Nicole Aranas shared with the committee there will be a meeting with the local hotels on October 24th. Invitations will be extended to the hotel Sales Managers and General Managers. Presentations will be made by DuPage County Visitors Bureau and Village staff on matters of interest to the hotels. Committee Member Marguerite Micken shared that Glass Court and Fitness is hosting the Pro-Am Turkey Shoot LPRT ladies tournament. She stated people coming from places outside of the US will attend, which will include hotel stays. The Top US player on the tour is from Phoenix and has won record titles. The tournament will take place on Friday, November 16th with finals on November 19th. Marguerite will put them in touch with DCVB to track hotel nights and see about the potential for grant funding to support the event. 9.0 Adjournment A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Lori Solyom, second by Marguerite Micken, at 7:19 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
