Due to a lack of quorum the meeting was cancelled. The meeting was rescheduled to June 1, 2015. 1.0 Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance The meeting was called to order by Trustee Robyn Pike at 7:05 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Robyn Pike. 2.0 Roll Call Present 7 - Pamela Bedard, Lisa Biegalski, Ahmed Ali, Michael Ledonne, Sharon Vish, Barbara Ware, and Gladys Piper Absent 2 - Trustee Dan Whittington, and Jenny Swensen Also present: Trustee Robyn Pike, the newly appointed Committe Chair and Communications Coordinator Avis Meade. 3.0 Public Participation None. 4.0 Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Pam Bedard, seconded by Michael Ledonne, to approve the minutes of the March 9, 2015, meeting. The motion passed by a unanimous vote. Village of Lombard Page 1 Community Relations Committee Minutes June 1, 2015 5.0 Old Business 130274 Youth Leadership Program Update on a meeting with counselors from Glenbard East. Avis Meade shared the cancellation of the Youth Leadership Program due to the lack of the minimum amount of students (6) that is required for the program to run. Meade reviewed options including discussing the program with student counselors at the beginning of the school year, in order to give students an ample amount of time to adjust their busy schedules around this program. Possible adjustments to the program were discussed changing the date of the program to better suit student schedules to help encourage attendance. 150113 2015 Junior Firefighter Academy Update of the 2015 Junior Firefighter Academy. Avis Meade read a recap email from Lombard Fire Lt. Tony Sally: We had 10 applicants; unfortunately 2 did not show up on 2 of the days. All of the participants put a lot of effort into the hands on evolutions. We benefited from extending the program a few more hours, compared from last year. We were able to give them more time with the hands on evolutions and they were able to get a sense of teamwork when they helped clean up and put things away. We may look to move the Academy to the fall, since there are many events at the high school during the spring that kept some applicants away. 6.0 New Business 150221 Victim Services - Association for Individual Development (A.I.D.) Review statistics of the number of times and how this service has been used. The Village Board had voted to renew the Victim Services contract at the Board of Trustees meeting prior to this date. The pros of the program were shared with the committee by Avis Meade. A request for specific numbers of personnel helped by this program has been asked of Meade, and will be provided at the next committee meeting. 7.0 Other Business Village of Lombard Page 2 Community Relations Committee Minutes June 1, 2015 150177 2015 Senior Fair Discuss the date and and overview of the plan. Senior Fair is scheduled for October 7, 2015. Discussion regarding parking options and possibly seeing if the parking lot of the fair could be reserved as all handicapped parking to accommodate the amount of senior citizens attending the event. 8.0 Information Only The Committee welcomed new Chairwoman Elect, Robyn Pike, Village Trustee for District 5. 9.0 Adjournment A Motion was made by Michael Ledonne, seconded by Ahmed Ali to adjourn the meeting at 7:32 p.m. The motion passed by a unanimous vote.
