Village of Lombard Page 1 Community Relations Committee Minutes September 14, 2020 5.0 Old Business 200027 2020 Census Staff will provide an update on communication efforts regarding the 2020 Census. Staff provided an update regarding communication efforts regarding the 2020 Census. Efforts have focused on a last push to reach hard to reach populations before the deadline to complete the Census. As of the date of the meeting, the Village’s Census self-completion rate (according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s website) is 78%. 6.0 New Business 200288 Community Relations The Committee will be provided with information on efforts being made to foster community relationships. Trustee Militello distributed information that has been shared with community members, regarding efforts being made to foster positive relationships. 200289 Senior of the Year Nominations The Committee will review nominees and will vote to select the 2020 Senior Man and Senior Woman of the Year. The committee reviewed all 2020 Senior of the Year Nominees and their contributions to the Village. The committee selected Dennis Jensen as the 2020 Senior Man of the Year and Carol Anderson as the 2020 Senior Woman of the Year. A motion was made by Trustee Militello to approve the 2020 Seniors of the Year. The motion was seconded by Pam Bedard. The motion was approved by unanimous vote. 200290 2020 Senior Fair The 2020 Senior Fair scheduled for October 7th will be cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic crowd restrictions in place. Director Tim Sexton shared a PowerPoint presentation that reviewed the Village of Lombard Proposed 2021General Fund Budget and the projected impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. 200291 Communication Recap Staff will recap communication efforts that have been ongoing throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the August 10th tornado recovery.
