Village Hall Village of Lombard 255 East Wilson Ave. Lombard, IL 60148 villageoflombard.org Minutes Community Relations Committee Trustee Dan Militello - Chairperson Trustee Bernie Dudek - Alternate Chairperson, Pamela Bedard, Michael Ledonne, Sharon Vish, Gladys Piper, Keveria Lezza,Megan McVane, Brittney Conway and Beth Gunzel Staff Liaison: Stephanie Calvillo Monday, September 9, 2024 7:00 PM Village Hall Board Room 1.0 Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Dan Militello at 7:05 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Militello 2.0 Roll Call Present 8 - Dan Militello, Pamela Bedard, Sharon Vish, Gladys Piper, Keveria Lezza, Megan McVane, Brittney Conway, and Beth Gunzel Absent 1 - Michael Ledonne Also present: Stephanie Calvillo, Communications Coordinator. Chairperson Dan Militello introduced new member Beth Gunzel to the committee. 3.0 Public Participation 4.0 Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Pam Bedard seconded by Sharon Vish to approve the minutes of the August 12, 2024, committee meeting. The motion passed with 6 in favor, and Beth Gunzel abstained. 5.0 Old Business Village of Lombard Page 1 Community Relations Committee Minutes September 9, 2024 240203 UPRR Mural Program The committee will review and discuss follow up information regarding the proposed concept of public art/mural for specified locations. The committee reviewed follow-up information provided by Public Works Director Carl Goldsmith. Key points of discussion included the potential benefits of the mural, such as enhancing the town's vibrancy, promoting future mural opportunities, and contributing to the overall beautification of the area. Appreciation was expressed for the information regarding murals as a deterrent to graffiti. Concerns were raised about the project’s costs, including whether this was the best allocation of funds and the potential for future maintenance expenses. A motion was made by Kaveria Lezza and seconded by Brittney Conway to approve the UPPR mural. The motion passed with 6 in favor, Megan McVane opposed. 240259 Senior Fair 2024 Staff will provide an update related to the 2024 Senior Fair, scheduled for Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Madison Meadow Athletic Center. Communications Coordinator Stephanie Calvillo provided an update on the 2024 Senior Fair, scheduled for Wednesday, October 2nd, at the Madison Meadow Athletic Center. So far, 56 vendors have registered, offering popular services such as flu shots, blood pressure screenings, COVID vaccines/boosters, and ID renewals (Secretary of State). Committee members interested in volunteering for the event are encouraged to email Stephanie at calvillos@villageoflombard.org. A question was raised regarding vendor outreach, particularly noting the absence of some large healthcare organizations. Staff responded that outreach has been conducted directly with previous vendors and local organizations, and promotional efforts have included print media, social media, the Village website, and the e-newsletter. Committee members will explore additional connections with healthcare organizations to increase participation. 6.0 New Business Village of Lombard Page 2 Community Relations Committee Minutes September 9, 2024 240260 Senior Man and Woman of the Year Staff will present the Senior of the Year nominations received, and the committee with vote on the winners. The committee reviewed the nominations for the 2024 Senior Man and Woman of the Year. Joseph Martinet was selected as Senior Man of the Year, and Cindy Ward was chosen as Senior Woman of the Year. 7.0 Other Business 8.0 Information Only All members invited to 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 11th at 9 a.m. outside of Village Hall. 9.0 Adjournment A motion to adjourn was made by Megan McVane and Seconded by Kaveria Lezza at 7:55 p.m. The motion to adjourn passed unanimously.
