The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Anthony Puccio, Dennis McNicholas, Paula Dillon, Gregory Ladle, and Patrick Kennedy Absent: 3- Garrick Nielsen, Matthew Pike, and Laine Vant Hoff 5.0 Unfinished Business 6.0 New Business 230202 Downtown Improvement & Renovation Grant; 126 W. St. Charles Road (Bones & Blossom Tattoo Studio) The Community Development Department has received an application for the Downtown Improvement and Renovation Grant Program (also known as the Façade Grant Program) for Bone & Blossom Tattoo Studio located at 126 W. St. Charles Road. They have a 5-year lease on the building. Tattoo Studios are a permitted use in the B5 Zoning District. Ms. Sara Phillips introduced Bone & Blossom Tattoo Studio, a new Village of Lombard Page 1 Economic & Community Minutes June 12, 2023 Development Committee business opening soon. She passed out materials on her background and work samples. She said this is an appointment only business. There will be 7 artists working. She discussed the interior layout and noted there are 4 private rooms and 3 open air stations. She said the new sign is modern and streamlined looking and will bring out elements of the building architecture. Ms. Ganser summarized the staff memo. She said they received three quotes. As the grant is under $10,000 the ECDC can approve the grant. Ms. Ganser noted that tattoo studios are a permitted use in the downtown. Ms. Dillon asked about the business volume. Ms. Phillips said artists will rent the space and set their hours and number of clients. She books 2-3 months out and works approximately 6-8 hours a day, 4 days a week. On a motion by Mr. McNicholas and a second by Mr. Ladle, the ECDC unanimously voted to approve the Downtown Improvement and Renovation Grant in the amount of $4,553.50. He noted a special meeting of the ECDC may be called to review the request. Staff introduced Mr. Rick Galfano who is the new President of the Lombard Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 9.0 Adjournment On a motion by Ms. Dillon and a second by Mr. McNicholas, the meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m. Village of Lombard Page 2
