Gerhardt Community Room Environmental Concerns Committee Trustee Mike Fugiel - Chairperson Trustee Reid Foltyniewicz - Alternate Chairperson Diana Lavaque, Nancy Schukat, Winnie Lyons, Darlene Bartt, Jason Cooper, Dustin Smith, Daniel Richardt and Dana Moreau Staff Liaison: Dave Gorman Environmental Concerns Minutes August 26, 2014 Committee 1.0 Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Fugiel at 7:08 PM. 2.0 Roll Call Dave Gorman, Assistant Director of Public Works Mike Brink, Waste Management Present 5 - Trustee Mike Fugiel, Diana Lavaque, Jason Cooper, Dustin Smith, and Daniel Richardt Absent 4 - Nancy Schukat, Darlene Bartt, Winnie Lyons, and Dana Moreau 3.0 Public Participation 4.0 Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Jason Cooper, seconded by Dustin Smith, that the minutes be approved . The motion passed by an unanimous vote. 5.0 Unfinished Business 050616 Current Solid Waste Contract - Update Brink provided the latest waste tonnage spreadsheet. The percentage trends for the different streams have been constant. Gorman: York Township's e-waste vendor has gone out of business so the collection in their yard has halted as of last week. I have intervened to try to get them set up with Vintagetech in order to keep a publicly managed disposal site in the area available during regular business hours. Goodwill on Roosevelt Rd. is also an option. I brought a lot of e-waste there yesterday and they are happy to be listed as a drop off site so they will also be added to the website. Fugiel: asked for a total tally of rain barrels and compost bins. Gorman: will provide at the next meeting. 140038 2014 Recycling Extravaganza After Action Review (AAR) Gorman: this is the last meeting prior to the event. LaVaque: has not received any volunteer registrations but the schools have just reopened. Gorman: any forms received by PW will be faxed to her. 6.0 New Business Village of Lombard Page 1 Environmental Concerns Minutes August 26, 2014 Committee 140337 HHW Collection in Lombard on 10/04/14 Gorman: reviewed memo and map. In addition to the typical publicity methods, he also will make a flyer to hand out at the Recycling Extravaganza. Will work this with two PW employees. The IEPA's contractor will completely manage the collection area. 7.0 Other Business Cooper: asked about the Fall Trails clean up. The date of 11/1/14 was chosen by the committee. 8.0 Information Only 130607 Home Energy Savings September Facebook and Website posting Gorman: reviewed the info that will be posted on Facebook and the Village website. It will also be added to the Recycling Extravaganza handout. 9.0 Adjournment A motion was made by Jason Cooper, seconded by Dustin Smith, that this meeting be adjourned at 7:35 PM .
