Roll Call Present 9 - Rita Schneider, Tom Fetters, Eileen Mueller, Brigitte O'Brien, Lyn Myers, Patricia Poskocil, Marcy Novak, Bob Wardzala, and Jason Sanders Absent 2 - Stephanie Zabela, and Lynn O'Donnell Also present: Ed Seagraves, Ex-Officio and Tami Urish, Planner I, Staff Liaison Public Hearings Approval of Minutes The minutes of the meeting on July 20, 2021 were approved with no changes. The motion was made by Commissioner Mueller and seconded by Commissioner Wardzala and passed by all aye votes with an individual roll call except Commissioner Novak abstaining. Chairman's Report Reappointments of terms that expire in 2025 for Commissioners Myers, O’Brien, Poskocil, Sanders and Wardzala were approved by the Village Board. Chairperson Schneider met with Bill Heniff, Director of Community Development about adding more details to the agenda similar to other Village Commissions. Commissioner Reports A. Local Landmarks Committee - Eileen Mueller Commissioner Mueller stated that the dedication of the plaque for 515 N. West Road was held on July 24th. B. Finance - Jason Sanders Commissioner Sanders stated the Museum/Peck House/Cemetery account is 22% under budget. Personnel - Pat Poskocil Commissioner Poskocil reported that museum staff has been restructured with positive results. A new archivist has been hired. D. Heritage Award - Lyn Myers No report at this time. E. Certified Local Government - Jason Sanders Commissioner Sanders shared that a contractor has been hired to design the local landmark process brochure. F. Cemetery - Rita Schneider Chairperson Schneider noted the letter sent out to the Commissioners with the agenda. The VFW is the only group that has not responded to the request for representatives for a reinstituted Cemetery Committee. G. Ex-Officio Report - Ed Seagraves Mr. Seagraves provided an update of the Historical Society’s activities with a report distributed, including: · The next exhibit at the Cottage Museum will open the first week in November and the subject is prohibition. · The Cottage Museum’s gift shop will participate in the Maple Street Christmas Mart on November 6th. · LHS staff is preparing for the Jingle Bell Jubilee on December 4th. H. Carriage House Addition - Ed Seagraves and Alison Costanzo Mr. Seagraves detailed the reasons for the project estimated to be overbudget. Planner's Report The memo about the McKee House under use considerations is the only item. Chairperson Schneider stated that the Commission no longer needs updates for property since is not in the jurisdiction of Lombard. Old Business New Business Village of Lombard Page 2 Lombard Historic Preservation Minutes October 19, 2021 Commission Commissioner Novak stated her concern for recent attempts nationally to change history such as removing statues or renaming streets or school buildings that could impact local history. The Commissioners discussed scenarios and options. Adjournment On a motion by Commissioner Poskocil and seconded by Commissioner Myers and all were in favor, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m. Village of Lombard Page 3
