Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance
President Rita Schneider called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
President Schneider led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call
Present 11 - Rita Schneider, Jack Jones, Patricia Poskocil, Marcy Novak, Tom Fetters,
Lyn Myers, Eileen Mueller, Richard Anstee, Brigitte O'Brien, Jennifer
Henaghan, and Stephanie Zabela
Also present: Leslie Sulla, Ex Officio and Tami Urish, Planner I, Staff
Liaison.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Pat Poskocil, seconded by Lyn Myers, to approve the
minutes of the meeting on August 29, 2013. The motion passed by a
unanimous vote with no changes.
Public Participation
There were no members of the public present.
Chairman's Remarks
Chairperson Schneider introduced and welcomed the two new
Historical Commissioners, Jennifer Henaghan and Stephanie Zabela.

A. Finance - Richard Anstee
Richard Anstee gave the report including the budget will be up for
approval by the Village Board of Trustees on November 7, 2013.
B. Local Landmarks - Eileen Mueller
Eileen Mueller reported that the Committee chose Douglas Gilbert to
update the current Survey of Historic Sites and Structures conducted
in 1992.
C. Personnel - Pat Poskocil
Pat Poskocil reported that Jeanne Schultz Angel, Executive Director of
Museums, has resigned her position. The Committee will put together
a job description and advertise for a replacement as soon as possible.
Pat is concerned that the salary is not adequate to attract a qualified
person with at least three years of experience to continue Jeanne’s
expansion of programs and overall excellent leadership.
D. Ex-Officio Report - Leslie Sulla
Leslie Sulla reported the Lombard Historical Society has been named
the “Small Institution of the Year” by the Illinois Association of
Museums and will be awarded on October 18. In September, the
Harvest Fest, co-sponsored by Prairie Food Coop, exceeded the
attendance expectations of 250 people with 800 showing up. Other
highlights include:
· We printed colorful rack cards for hotels - Peck on one side,
Cottage on the other.
· Sunday Talks, November 10 will feature our new employee
Nicole Louis with her Master’s thesis on the 1918 Spanish Flu
Epidemic. Walgreens will come over and provide flu shots that
day as well. 2pm at Carriage House.
· Approximately 70 people enjoyed the first annual Zombie Walk
on October 13 from the cemetery to the Carriage House.
· The Cemetery Walk - Monday, November 11; 2pm dedication of
the new veteran gravestones. At 2:30, costumed interpreters
will entertain people about the past.
· The Civil War Reenactment has been approved by the Park
District for July, 2014.
· A year extension (to Dec. 2014) has been granted to complete

all aspects of the cellar project for the Peck Homestead Grant.
· New exhibit at Cottage/Carriage House thru November - The
Talking Dead: Victorians and the Spiritualism Movement.
· The budget committee met with the Promotions and Tourism
Committee to present the LHS budget. A request for more part
time staff dollars and housekeeping funds were approved.
· A new division of labor: Nicole Louis is the new Peck
Coordinator. Alison Costanzo is the Victorian Coordinator and
Jean Cooper is Archive Assistant.
· Jeanne presented a session “Whose History are You Getting?”
at the American Association of State and Local History in
Birmingham, AL, in September. She shared the tale about how
LHS expanded the story of Old Charley at the Peck
Homestead.
E. Lombard Cemetery - Tom Fetters
Tom Fetters reported that the Zombie Walk on October 13 began at
the cemetery with excellent weather for the participants. There will be
a cleanup in the next few weeks in anticipation of the Veteran’s Day
(Armistice Day) observation on November 11. The additional new
veteran’s headstones will be blessed at the ceremony with the VFW
Color Guard present.
F. National Register Work for Sheldon Peck Homestead
The Freedom Trail Plaque for the Peck Homestead will be installed
after the cellar project is completed.
G. Heritage Award - Lyn Myers
Lyn Myers reported that plans for the ceremony to be held the next
night at the Village Board meeting are prepared. The three nominees
for the award are Margot Fruehe, James Hock and Pat Poskocil for
lifetime achievement.

Other Business
A discussion commenced and concluded regarding the compensation
considered for the future Executive Director of Museums.
Adjournment
The next meeting will be held on January 21, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall.
On a motion by Eileen Mueller and seconded by Lyn Myers, and all were in
favor, the meeting was adjourned at 8:19 p.m.
