Lombard Historical Commission Minutes June 17, 2015
The Lombard Historical Society’s President recently resigned. A list of
twenty individuals for a possible replacement to nominate was
conducted as reported by the Nominating Committee Chairperson.
Current expenses are on track and projected to be $2,000 under
budget as reported by the Finance Committee Chairperson.
The museum staff has been awarded the American Association of
State and Local History Award for the “cellar” exhibit at the Peck
House. The award and $5,000 will be presented at the conference in
September.
150291 Lombard Historical Society Board
Discussion of Board President vacancy, Civil War Encampment, and
working together with the Lombard Historical Society. (DISTRICTS -
ALL)
The Historical Society is in need of several volunteers for the Civil War
Encampment, July 24-26 and conducting tours at the museums on
Sundays. Since the first Civil War Reenactment, the Executive
Director has been the organizer and point person for the event in
addition to devoting many hours over this weekend. This year the
Executive Director has a scheduled absence during the event and
therefore the demand of volunteers is greater to fill this gap. The
weekend long event requires volunteers to help with set up on Friday
night, staffing the gift shop and information tents during the event and
clean up Sunday evening. Recruitment ideas to attract new
volunteers is needed. The Ice Cream Social will be held on August
23, 2015 at the Victorian Cottage from 1 to 3 p.m. A picnic at the
Peck Homestead is scheduled for September 27, 2015.
Adjournment
On a motion by Commissioner Poskocil and seconded by Commissioner
Fetters, and all were in favor, the meeting was adjourned at 8:08 p.m.
