Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance
Chairperson Schneider called the meeting to order at 7:34 p.m.
Chairperson Schneider led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Absent 2 - Jennifer Henaghan, and Stephanie Zabela
Also present: Tami Urish, Planner I, Staff Liaison.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Commissioner Anstee and seconded by Commissioner
Poskocil, to approve the minutes of the meeting on September 24, 2015 with no
changes. The motion passed by a unanimous vote.

Commissioner Mueller reported that committee members are following
up on advice offered by members of the public in response to the
Suburban Life article for the request of photographs of the Chicago,
Aurora & Elgin railroad.
B. Finance - Richard Anstee
Commissioner Anstee reported that currently expenses are under
budget. He has been informed that the budget submitted for 2016 has
not been changed and is slated to be approved at the November 19,
2015 Board of Trustees meeting.
C. Personnel - Pat Poskocil
Commissioner Poskocil reported that the Executive Director Natalie
Troiani will return from maternity leave on October 21, 2015. A
volunteer has tentatively agreed to serve as the Historical Society’s
treasurer.
D. Ex-Officio Report - Jennifer Henaghan
Regarding recent events, the Civil War Reenactment had
approximately 4,400 people attend; the Ice Cream Social
approximately roughly 75 people attended. This event will be moved to
June next year to increase attendance. Picnic at the Peck had 66
people attend, many of whom were first-time guests; Spooktacular had
significant attendance with special interest in the kid’s craft offered and
the “Guess How Many Candy Corns are in the Jar” contest generated
contact information for people who might be interested in future
family-friendly events.

· Veterans Day exhibit at the Carriage House to feature
Lombard WWII veterans
· “Everyone Has a Story” Brown Bag: Thursday,

· Christmas tours at the Victorian: Wednesdays & Fridays,
December 2-23, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Month (March)
Facilities:
Staff is preparing the Victorian for large Christmas tours. The gift shop
at the Carriage House has been cleaned up and reorganized. A
section of roofing at the Peck was replaced.
Other News:
Executive Director Natalie Troiani returns from maternity leave
October 21, 2015. The IDNR grant check has not been received due
to the State’s budget issues. Staff attended the American Association
of State and Local History Conference in Louisville, KY September
17-19: overall a great experience, recurring themes of relevance and
uniqueness, focused on historic house museums,
programming/education, and collections.
Staff attended a Museum Education Roundtable in August that was
very enlightening. LHS hosted children from KinderCare for a “Paint
Like Peck” program that was a huge hit.
E. Lombard Cemetery - Tom Fetters
Commissioner Fetters reported that a granite stone with a plaque
honoring the veterans and a plaque thanking the contributors to the
“Pennies for Patriots” program will be unveiled at a ceremony
scheduled for November 8 at 1 p.m.
F. National Register Work for Sheldon Peck Homestead
Commissioner Poskocil and Commissioner Schneider attended the
National Alliance of Historic Preservation Commissions program.
Recent feedback regarding the application is positive.
G. Heritage Award - Lyn Myers
Commissioner Myers reported that The Selection Committee
discussed strategies for increasing the number of nominations.
Revising the application, electronic submittal, reviewing the lifetime
category, dividing people from projects with two separate awards and
alerting civil organizations of the application were preliminary ideas.
Discussion of the merit associated with volunteer versus paid
employee was introduced among the Commissioners.

On a motion by Commissioner Myers and a second by Commissioner Poskocil,
the Historical Commission voted 9-0 to move the deadline for nomination
submittals from July 31 to a date to an earlier date in May or June in order to
submit the recipient for approval at the regularly scheduled Historical
Commission meeting during the month of July.
Planner's Report
Ms. Urish reported that according to the by-laws, the Commissioners
are to discuss the schedule for the following year’s meeting at the
October meeting. The Commissioners agreed to maintain the same
schedule as in the past with no changes.
Unfinished Business
Chairperson Schneider reported that Douglas Gilbert will be
completing Phase Two of the forty more sites added to the
Architectural and Historical Survey completed in 2014. The results will
be posted on the website by staff as soon as the file is received.
New Business
Adjournment
On a motion by Commissioner Myers and seconded by Commissioner Mueller,
and all were in favor, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
