170147 Intersection of Greenfield and Park Avenues
A resident request to to install a 4-way stop. (DISTRICT #1)
Sgt. Grage reviewed the item. This letter is not the first concern the
Village has received regarding speeding on Greenfield. It is pretty clear
in the letter that the resident would like a stop sign installed. The
intersection does not warrrant a stop sign and the speed study doesn't
show a big speeding problem. The Department did do directed patrols
and issued a few tickets. The speeding is really occurring west of the
intersection near the park and school. That will be addressed with
enforcement. A letter was sent to the resident advising of the findings as
well as inviting her to the meeting.
A motion was made by Bob Corbino, seconded by John Larkin, Jr., that this
Request be denied. The motion passed by an unanimous vote.
170148 Intersection of Lemoyne Avenue and Craig Place
A resident request to install a 4-way Stop. (DISTRICT #4)
Sgt. Grage reviewed the item. The resident who requested this had
several complaints. He believes the speed limit in this area should be 25
mph and he also requested a stop sign. The traffic study failed to support
a stop sign and the speed study didn't show a speeding problem there.
There have not been any crashes and the volume doesn't come close.

Committee
The department did directed patrols in the area. One of the complaints
was that residents on North Avenue frontage were not stoppping for the
stop sign at Craig. The only stops that were made were at that location,
however, no tickets were issued.
A motion was made by John Schwarz, seconded by John Larkin, Jr., that this
Request be denied. The motion passed by an unanimous vote.

AC Howell reviewed several highlights. He also informed the committee
that the fire marshal announced his retirement last week. His last day is
April 13th.
Schwarz said that he wanted to compliment the paramedics who took
him to the hospital when he sprained knee.
Sgt. Grage commented that the traffic stops are up overall this year. DUIs
are a little more than last year this time, but the cell phone use seat belt
enforcement have doubled. He went on to say that it's obvious how big of
an impact distracted driving makes nationwide. As April is Distracted
Driving Awareness month, the department will be focusing on districated
driving enforcement the last week of the month along with 50 other
departments. DC Wirsing spoke about an article in the Tribune that was
reporting on a new study that showed 1 in 4 accidents are due to
distracted driving. Mullins asked how much a ticket is for cell phone use.
Sgt. Grage answered that the statute sets the maximum at $75, but with
court fees it can be $120 and up.
9.0 Adjournment
A motion was made by Gary Cation, seconded by John Larkin, Jr., to adjourn
the meeting at 7:17 PM. The motion carried unanimously.
