Gerhardt Community Room Public Safety & Transportation Committee Trustee Brian LaVaque, Chairperson Bob Bachner, Alternate Chairperson Jennifer Perkins, Michael Corso, John Larkin, Robert Corbino, Gary Cation, John Mullins, Rick Miller and Patrick Casey Public Safety & Transportation Minutes February 7, 2024 Committee 1.0 Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance The meeting was called to order by Chairperson LaVaque at 7:00 PM. 2.0 Roll Call Present 7 - Brian LaVaque, Jennifer Perkins, Michael Corso, Bob Corbino, John Mullins, Rick Miller, and Patrick Casey Absent 2 - John Larkin Jr., and Gary Cation 3.0 Public Participation 4.0 Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Bob Corbino, seconded by Jennifer Perkins, that the Minutes of the December 6, 2023 meeting be approved. The motion carried unanimously. 5.0 Unfinished Business 6.0 New Business 7.0 Other Business 8.0 Information Only Migrant Bus Drop-Offs Discussion regarding the Migrant Bus Drop-Offs and no action is required by the Committee. Chairperson LaVaque updated the Committee how the Village is handling the migrant bus drop-offs. A discussion ensued. There have been 15 buses since Christmas. They have been peaceful. Chief Wirsing said they have been less than 20 minutes each time, very respectful, their final destination is Chicago. They've had no problems. All have left on the train or have been picked up. Committee Volunteer Manual and Open Meetings Act Guidelines Review the Volunteer Manual and Open Meetings Act Guidelines and no action is required by the Committee. Chairperson LaVaque reviewed the Committee Volunteer Manual and Open Meetings Act Guidelines with the members of the Committee. Village of Lombard Page 1 Public Safety & Transportation Minutes February 7, 2024 Committee Fire Department Reports/Information June 2025 Deputy Chief interviews were conducted on 2/7/24 One new hire FD receiving a new Tower Ladder in the upcoming weeks Committee requested setting up a tour of the FD in the Spring Police Department Reports/Information Chief Wirsing presented the Police Department Updates. Four graduated from the Academy in December Two in the Academy, one being one of our Community Service Officers which is always nice to see Promoted a new Sergeant Would like members to finish setting up PD ride-alongs Chief Wirsing answered questions regarding the building of a new Police Station. The Board recognizes the need for a new facility, they are committed and we are moving forward. It will be a slow process but very optimistic that it will happen. 9.0 Adjournment Meeting Adjourned at 7:39 PM A motion was made by Rick Miller, seconded by Bob Corbino, to adjourn the meeting.
