I Call to Order
The Special Meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Lombard was called to order at 9:05 a.m. on Saturday, May
4, 2013 in the Harry Caray’s Banquet Room of the Westin Lombard
Yorktown, 70 Yorktown Center, Lombard.

Village Clerk Sharon Kuderna led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Village Manager David Hulseberg gave an explanation of the day 's

events and introduced President Giagnorio. Village President
Giagnorio welcomed the residents who were in attendance along with
representatives from the School Districts, Library, Park District,
Chamber of Commerce, Lombard Town Centre, and Village
Committee Members. He stated the purpose of the meeting was to
conduct the Community Forum that is held every two years. He
announced Communications Coordinator Joelyn Kott’s retirement and
thanked her for her years of service and dedication to the Village .
Assistant Village Manager Nicole Aranas gave an overview of the
Community Survey results. Included in the presentation were
comparison charts from results of 2009, 2011 and 2013 surveys.
Village Manager Hulseberg explained Exercise #2 which was the
success stories. He asked a representative at each table to write
three things the participants at the table could suggest of the best
things that happened in Lombard in the past two years. Participants
at each tabled discussed the suggestions. Notes were gathered and
compiled for a later date. Communications Coordinator Kott and
Assistant Village Manager Aranas distributed a pop quiz to the
participants testing their knowledge of Village facts, events and
information. Attendees compared answers to the quiz following a
presentation by Assistant Village Manager Aranas. The groups at
each table worked together to identify opportunities and areas of
potential improvement for future Village communications.
Director of Finance Tim Sexton explained the fiscal state of the
Village. He included comparison charts of the past three years.
Village Manager Hulseberg explained exercise #3. Everyone at the
table was requested to write down a dream for Lombard using the
marker and colored 8 ½ x11 sheets of paper. They hung all
suggestion signs on the wall. Village Manager Hulseberg read all the
ideas, and then Communications Coordinator Kott and Assistant
Village Manager Aranas grouped the same ideas together on the wall .
Village Manager Hulseberg asked everyone to place a sticker on their
favorite top three ideas on their way out.
President Giagnorio thanked everyone for participating.
VI Adjournment
A motion was made by Trustee Peter Breen, seconded by Trustee Bill Ware,
that the Special Meeting of the president and Board of Trustees held on
Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Harry Caray's, Yorktown, Lombard be adjourned at 11:
55 a.m. The motion carried by the following vote:
Aye: 5- Dan Whittington, Reid Foltyniewicz, Peter Breen, Laura Fitzpatrick, and
Bill Ware
