Gerhardt Community Room Special Meeting Board of Trustees Village President Keith Giagnorio, Village Clerk Liz Brezinski Trustee Brian LaVaque, Trustee Anthony Puccio, Trustee Bernie Dudek, Trustee Andrew Honig, Trustee Dan Militello and Trustee Bob Bachner Special Meeting Board of Trustees Minutes May 27, 2021 I Call to Order The Special Meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Lombard held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 in the Community Room of the Lombard Village Hall was called to order at 5:00 pm by Village President Keith Giagnorio. II Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Village Clerk Liz Brezinski. III Roll Call Present 8 - Keith Giagnorio, Liz Brezinski, Brian LaVaque, Anthony Puccio, Bernie Dudek, Andrew Honig, Dan Militello, and Bob Bachner Village Staff Present: Scott Niehaus, Village Manager Nicole Aranas, Assistant Village Manager Also present: Craig Rapp, Facilitator Jane Charmello, Lombardian Reporter IV Public Participation V Agenda 210166 Village of Lombard Strategic Plan Review of, and discussion in regard to, the Village's Current Strategic Plan initiatives, and providing direction in regard to updating the Strategic Plan initiatives. The following was provided: Generally, the Strategic Planning Session occurs over two days. This meeting was called in advance of the official planning sessions to allow the new Board to get to know one another. The planning will take place on Thursday, June 3 and Saturday, June 5. The goals of this meeting and the next two meetings were discussed, as well as the roles and responsibilities of local government leadership. President Giagnorio spoke to “The Lombard Way” (est. 2015) which set a precedent for how the Village Board of Trustees would conduct Village of Lombard Page 1 Special Meeting Board of Trustees Minutes May 27, 2021 themselves. In short, the board agrees that they will communicate with one another, there will be no hidden agendas, and it is ok to disagree. Craig Rapp discussed the difference between “Tough Politics vs. Dysfunctional Governance” and the process of team growth: forming ­­> storming ­> norming ­> performing. The group looked at the results of the DiSC assessments. The different personality type were discussed, as well as the fact that everyone is a mix of all the different types, and they have the ability to adjust depending on circumstances. The assessment was completed as a tool for the Board to be aware of their individual strengths, similarities, and differences.
