Initially the resident wanted a 4-way Stop, however, in a subsequent conversation the resident said if he can't have that he would like a "Cross Traffic Does Not Stop" sign. Wirsing commented that the Police Department does not receive many speeding complaints on either street. Perkins added that there is not a lot of traffic in the vicinity. Mullins asked why he requested the signage. Foltyniewicz replied that there were two accidents. Mullins pointed out that both police reports state weather related, so it's not a geometrics issue. Larkin added that West is the busier road anyway. A motion was made by John Schwarz, seconded by Jerry Schaefer, to concur with the staff recommendation and that this Request be denied. The motion passed by an unanimous vote. 140146 1100 Block of N. Ridge Avenue A request from the Police Department to change No Parking signage Village of Lombard Page 1 Transportation & Safety Committee Minutes April 14, 2014 to No Parking, Standing or Stopping. (DISTRICT #1) Lew reviewed the item. Wirsing pointed out that it was not stated whether the the vehicles were occupied and if they sat there for a while. Foltyniewicz suggested that more information may be needed, such as, did officers show up and tell them to move and there was disagreement that they are not parked? Cation cautioned that these are both businesses that are supporting lombard. Schaefer asked what the rest of the signage on that street is. Perkins answered that the no parking is staggered. Mullins pointed out that if truckers are making a delivery and they're early they're just going to go somewhere else to sit. Schaefer suggested that staff talk to both parties. Wirsing pointed out that whatever you do you're going to effect a business. Corso added that in the police report it states that the officer did talk to the owners of United and they said they would comply, so the officer did talk to both parties. Foltyniewicz suggested that the committee wait to see if they comlply. No action will be taken at this time and staff will monitor the situation. 6.0 New Business 7.0 Other Business 8.0 Information Only 9.0 Adjournment A motion was made by Gary Cation, seconded by John Larkin, Jr., to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 p.m. The motion carried unanimously.
