I. Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance
The regular meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Lombard held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 in the Board Room
of the Lombard Village Hall was called to order by Village President
Keith Giagnorio at 7:00 pm. Director of Public Works Carl Goldsmith
led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Marymae Meyer reminded residents of the Garden Club lilac bush
sale that is scheduled for May 11th through May 13th.
170195 Swearing-in Ceremony - Village President Keith Giagnorio, Village
Clerk Sharon Kuderna, Trustee Dan Whittington, Trustee Reid
Foltyniewicz and Trustee Bill Ware
Director of Community Development Bill Heniff issued the Oath of
Office to Sharon Kuderna swearing her in as Village Clerk.
Village Clerk Sharon Kuderna issued the Oath of Office to Keith
Giagnorio swearing him in as Village President.
Village Clerk Sharon Kuderna issued the Oath of Office to Dan
Whittington, Reid Foltyniewicz and Bill Ware swearing them in as
Village Trustees.
Village President Giagnorio thanked his wife Angela for her support
and patience and thanked his son and daughter who he hoped were
busy working at the pizza shop; thanked the residents for the

opportunity to continue to serve them and the community for four more
years; talked about the momentum the Board had going and the
progress and accomplishments; felt the community was blessed to
have the dedicated staff and employees who work so hard to make
the job of the elected officials easier; spoke of four years going by so
quickly and the Board looking forward to the next four years.
Trustee Bill Ware thanked his wife and daughter for their support over
the past eight years and their continued support for the next four
years; thanked the residents of District #6 and noted he will continue
to assist residents for the next four years; looking forward to working
with the Board for the next four years; noted the great work of the
Village Manager and staff.
Trustee Dan Whittington thanked his wife who was detained and not
able to attend the Swearing-in ceremony and talked of working with
the Board the next four years.
Trustee Reid Foltyniewicz talked about he and his wife being products
of the Village and the school district, growing up in Lombard, wanting
to give back to the community and do positive things; spoke of
Lombard being an amazing community and being raised by the
Village; spoke of support of family and friends and the great staff;
talked about learning and growing with the community and felt that he
was receiving a lot in return.
Village Clerk Sharon Kuderna thanked the residents for giving her the
opportunity serve another four years and that it has been fun and she
has learned a lot; thanked her family, the Clerk's Office and Carol
Bauer.
170196 Presentation - American Heart Life Saving Award
Fire Chief Richard Sander spoke of the Fire Department having two
cardiac arrests within one hour of each other on February 6th and how
both patients were doing well due to the quick responses of
bystanders, use of AED and the quick responses of both the Police
and Fire Departments.
Lt. Frank Gallione proceeded to provide information on both cardiac
arrests - one at X-Sport Fitness and one at the Lombard Police
Department - within one hour of each other and how bystanders who
were willing to jump in and begin CPR and use an AED helped save
the lives of these two individuals until the Paramedics arrived to
continue treatment and transport each of the patients to the hospital.
He spoke of the 3-5 minutes following the cardiac arrests and how
important it was to the outcome for the patients because bystanders
jumped in and began treatment until the Paramedics arrived. Awards
were given to the X-Sport Fitness staff and to the Paramedics. Lt.
Gallione noted that the Village has received awards for excellence for
cardiac care.

Village Clerk Sharon Kuderna read the Lilac Time proclamation.
V. Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Trustee Mike Fugiel, seconded by Trustee Dan
Whittington, that the minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 20, 2017 be
approved. The motion carried by the following vote:

VI. Committee Reports
Community Promotion & Tourism - Trustee Mike Fugiel, Chairperson
Trustee Mike Fugiel, Chairperson of the Community Promotion &
Tourism Committee, reported the committee met and reviewed a grant
from the Firebirds Soccer Club relative to a soccer tournament
scheduled in August that would bring over one-hundred soccer teams
to the community. This request will be forwarded to the Village Board.

Village President Giagnorio wished his mother a happy 89th birthday.
Village Clerk Sharon Kuderna read the following announcements:
It is Lilac Time in Lombard!! Mark your calendars. These are just a
few of the events. Please check www.lombardlilactime.com for more
details on events during Lilac Time in Lombard. The Lilac Queen
Coronation will take place this Saturday, May 6th at 1pm in Lilacia
Park. Lilac Time Arts & Craft Fair is Sunday, May 7 from 10 am until
4pm downtown Lombard. Enjoy the variety of art and craft vendors,
as well as food, entertainment, and a Kids Zone all FREE. Lilacia
Park officially opens on Monday. Take time to visit the park in all of its
splendor. Thursday, May 11 through Saturday, May 13 the Park
District and Garden Club will host their annual plant and lilac bush
sale. Friday, May 12 is the Lilac Ball at The Carlisle. Sunday, May 21
is the Lilac Parade.
