Roll Call Multiple Item Comment Public Comment Approval of the Minutes Item(s) (1) Discussion and presentation by current and former LAUSD Board of Education members relative to Board member responsibilities, time commitments, compensation, and related matters. Current Board member and President Jackie Goldberg and Board Members Dr. George McKenna and Tanya Ortiz Franklin provided comments relative to their experience as Board members, responsibilities, time commitment, and compensation and addressed related questions from the Committee. (2) Presentation by Michael McLean, Executive Officer, LAUSD Board of Education, relative to Board member responsibilities, salaries, and related matters. Michael McLean, LAUSD Executive Officer, presented information relative to salaries of the LAUSD staff and addressed related questions from the Committee. (3) Discussion with the Chief Legislative Analyst’s Office and other City staff relative to salary information, compensation data, and related matters. Andrea Galvin, CLA’s Office, presented information relative to salary information, compensation data, and related matters. (4) Discussion of future agenda items. (Sella) Why the LAUSD BoE hasn’t taken the 2% raise per year since 2017. How the student enrollment trend and the predicted decline will impact the district. Adjournment Telecommunication Relay Services Telephone communication is one of the most important forms of communication in society today. Due to advancements in technology, telephone devices have evolved with new services and capabilities. Individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing, and individuals with a speech disability are following these trends and are rapidly migrating to more advanced telecommunications methods, both for peer­to­peer and third­party telecommunications relay service (TRS) communications. Telecommunications Relay Service is a telephone service that allows persons with hearing or speech disabilities to place and receive telephone calls. TRS is available in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. territories for local and/or long distance calls. TRS providers ­ generally telephone companies ­ are compensated for the costs of providing TRS from either a state or a federal fund. There is no cost to the TRS user. Some people hang up on TRS calls because they think the CA is a telemarketer. If you hear, "Hello. This is the relay service .. . " when you pick up the phone, please don't hang up! You are about to talk, through a TRS provider, to a person who is deaf, hard­of­hearing, or has a speech disability.
